I kept a notepad by my side for two weeks and wrote down 10 things I WISH I knew when I started playing that have just made me better. Tips, tricks, tactics and training are all covered trying to plug the loopholes in your gameplay and help you simply win more in FM20.

The improvements are both small things and big things, whatever I noticed while playing. Let me know if you like guides in this format, because I’m happy to make more of them! Other things people might not know are welcome in the comments, ooor which of these tips you didn’t know before so I know what part of the game we should talk about more often.

As 11, i would say: "Communicate with your players. Alot."
Praise/Criticize performances and training(loan players aswell). Even if you sometimes piss them off, its good way to build bond with them and spot troublesome players you might want let go for better good.

Getting player morale down by harsh aftermatch talk isnt that bad if its player that tends to be complacent in every match and doesnt respond to demanding feedback. Just show him who's boss here, then build trust slowly again. Bend or go.

Match review session is a great hint. Played this game for 20 years and never noticed whenever this entered the party. Like button just for that one!

The stay calm note is something I had to learn myself and it helped SO much. The most important thing to remember. Back in the day of discs, I sent a copy of FM flying down the bottom of the garden like a frisbee. Still worked the next day. Robust.

The only thing i might add, if in pre season you train 3 tactics (especially first season) it takes an age to get familiar, so start initially with one then add another, once thats a bit more familiar add another - by the time you add tactic 3, tact 1 should now be close to fluid. It's the best way to split your training time during pre season.

I do a couple of these already, but the ones I haven't been have blown my mind - PROGRESS GRAPHS! This is great, and even the "obvious" stuff is always worth repeating. Top marks for this vid!

Even thought I've played fm for years you're never too old to find out new things, liked your scouting 1 and enjoying this 1 too.

The very first thing i always do on a new save, as soon as it lets me on to the screens. Is sort out my staff, everytime. I dont look at my players or transfers. I sort my staff out. Sometimes im halfway through a transfer window before i even start looking at signing players because ive been focused on bring in staff

Excellent video. Glad I found you, you have a new sub.

I think someone mentioned earlier that the progress bar is only relative to their rating in the first team, so I tend to use attribute progress to see how a player is actually progressing :)

Not sure how valid it is, but something that helped me increase my win percentage was looking at the assistant coach's scout report of the opposing team. It would help find either players with low match sharpness, injuries that would tell me that position was prone to mistakes so I can exploit it, or would tell me things like the goalkeeper is error prone or defense isnt great at heading so I would focus on more crosses for example. Also, match sharpness was ridiculously important :D

Ive heard that using multiple tactics is good from others as well but Ive created my own tactic w/ position action adjustments that I use 100% of the time and its been pretty successful.

This guy is fantastic. I wrongly thought "there's nothing an American can teach me about football, or FM". Totally, 100%, WRONG. Great videos. 👍
