It feels like forever ago that I saw this for the first time, I was so incredibly inspired by it as an artist starting out finding their own footing. I commented asking what software was used, and Wheele was kind enough to get back and tell me C4D, which was way too expensive for me as a broke 18 year old, but I picked up Blender because I was just so compelled by how many doors this opened creatively. Now it’s a few years later and I’m a little bit older, and I’ve kept at it and made some art that I can feel proud of. I’m at a point now where 3D feels like the trajectory of my life and I’m deeply thankful. I really love this short.

Now this is only my interpretation, but I believe this film shows a chain reaction of different character mentally bursting. First the black character (lets call him the "black guy") is annoyed until he bursts with rage, ending with the death of the guy that was annoying him (let's call him balloon guy).

This caused the black guy to burst into madness because of his guilt.

The family of balloon guy bursted into madness out of their anger and need for vengeance.

The maggot-like bugs might represent the spread of madness caused by a single death.

But like I said this is just how I see. This piece of art by Ben is a masterpiece and is quite open to interpretation and I am so glad I found his videos.

Here's my interpretation:
-The Balloon People are citizens of this world.
-The maggots are like Nulls from Reboot.

We start out with Balloon Man.
He's just kind of existing, but the squeakiness from this drives Other Balloon Man nuts.
So Other Balloon Man pops Balloon Man.

A funeral is then held for Balloon Man.
The only attendants are Balloon Wife, Balloon Son, and Balloon Baby.

However, Other Balloon Man decides to slide through at high speeds and let all the maggots out of the casket, which makes Balloon Baby cry and Balloon Wife + Balloon Son mortified.

Now they're both pissed.

The distorted sequence can be entirely ignored.

The Balloon Family sets up a trap.

Other Balloon Man slides through and is captured!

The Balloon Family reveals themself and prepares to exact revenge, but Other Balloon Man is almost impossible to pop.

And when he does, he violently explodes.

The one survivor of the whole incident is Balloon Wife, left limbless and in pain.

And so ends Bump Classique.
