🔴Eye Health QOTD: Before this video, did you know about Demodex mites? Have you used any OCuSOFT products?

I can't thank you enough. Will go and get these Teatree wipes and get to work. Have had this problem for 6 months now. Didn't realize I needed to be more diligent. Thanks again.

Never heard of these bugs before? Visit optometrists once a year to check/replace specs, check for glaucoma and other ailments of eyes. The eye Dr never mentioned the possibility reasons for my red-eyed, dry eye condition. Lived and worked in a very pumice-dust envonment in NZ volcanic plateau, just accepted that as the price I paid for working in the area. After 70 yrs of suffering, I'll just have to look in to it. Amazing what you can find on YouTube? Thanks Doc.

Thank you for this. I do a lot of housesitting and sleep in many different beds. I recently noticed my eyelids being irritated and when looking close up, I see evidence of demodex mites. So I’m going to try this cleanser. Thank you.

Just a word of advice for people who use eye shades at night or during day to block out any light - make sure you wash these shades regularly in hot water to kill any Demon-Dex bugs building up on these shades. I have 3 pair of these night shades because they usually take a day to dry after washing, because if they are made of silk you should not dry them in sunlight because silk deteriorates in the sun. I believe these eye shades is one big reason why I had a lot of Demodex on my eyes. Demodex love darkness and warmth, which is exacerbated by eye shades. Also wash your bed and pillow sheets regularly. Wash your hand regular after touching dogs and cats because they carry these Demodex bugs. Don't let these pets sleep on your bed near your head area.

While there is no bad advice in the video it is selling a product that can be found vastly cheaper. Use the foaming dispenser from an eye care product that is empty after use. Mix distilled water with tea tree oil body soap and refill your empty foaming dispenser. If you just need basic eye cleaning each morning to reduce general redness and itching that always comes with age, mix 30% baby shampoo and 70% distilled water for your foaming dispenser.

I have been having an issue with my eyes since last fall and thru winter. I kept thinking it was just allergies, but it was just more intense itching that allergies usually cause for me. I couldn't figure it out, then it hit me that I remembered seeing your video here. I used my mirrorless camera today and the new lens that is super sharp to take a close up pic, actually my son helped me do that...on the computer monitor under the magnification, I see those little white bumpy bits at the base of my lashes that I see on google images for these. This afternoon I washed with tea tree castile soap and the itchiness is already a smidge less. I am hoping that isn't a coincidence because if these mites will go away, then this wretched itchiness will go away. Bless you for this video! I am glad the Good Lord brought it to my mind suddenly.

Thanks for demonstrating the foaming cleanser! I've been using the wipes and was considering using the pump next time. Good to know my options.

Got diagnosed yesterday after a year of complications and trying different treatments and it finally seems like the diagnosis is fitting.
Using teatree oil wipes and cleansing foam, wish me luck.

My mom (67 yo) has had really bad dry eye with excessive tearing for the past year. I know she’s had a slit lamp exam multiple times, and treatment with what I assume are dry eye products, steroids, even antibiotics - all without good relief. Could her eye doc have missed parasites? Any contraindications to tea tree based products? My dad was an optometrist for 40+ years and this is the first I’ve heard of these parasites!

I do use tea tree face wash and shampoo periodically in the shower. I use hypochlorous acid spray daily on eyes, but what I also do as a precaution is once a year I buy horse ivermectin paste 1.87% and take two doses one week apart. 250mcg/kg of body weight. This isn't medical advice, just what I do. Trader Joes carries really good tea tree face wipes and shampoos.

This is actually what I have now. Never had crusts or nasty stuff but a large amount of redness, burning, light sensitivity red lid edges. No money or insurance. I’m going to use baby shampoo with diluted tea tree oil. If I don’t start to see improvement, I have an appointment next week. The pandemic was the reason I didn’t go sooner. I could have blocked ducts leading to this as well using eye liner on my inner lids! I’m in healthcare. Should know better. Hope this helps someone else. Can happen to us all.

Hey Dr. Allen! Awesome content, keep it up! I got a great idea for a video btw.

Can you do a video on Visian ICL and on Implantable Collamer Lens overall? It is very interesting and FDA approved but there is very few people providing any decent information on it.

You're so good at explaining things; it would help out so many people by informing them about their choices in corrective eye procedures!
