Unlimited 4G Hotspot for $20 per Month!

No joke - get unlimited hotspot connectivity for only $20 per month! I've been looking for a way to use cell phone service for my home network but haven't been able to find a solution for a reasonable price until now. The carriers normally throttle your cell data after a few gigabytes so using cell service has been very limited. I finally found a way to get unlimited data from your cell carrier without the throttling. Get the MoFi 4G WiFi Router and use your cell SIM card for and you can use unlimited "streaming" data. The MoFi router has a configuration setting that makes all your home network traffic route to the carrier as streaming data rather than tethered data. This is key to getting unlimited data for your devices. It works with all the major cell phone carriers. *Note: Some people have had trouble with Verizon. Please check the comments for more information.

Devices mentioned in the video:

***Note: As of March 2020 MoFi Network came out with the new SIM7 version of this router. It provides additional bands 14 & 66 for Verizon and band 71 for T-Mobile. If you have Verizon or T-Mobile I suggest using the new SIM7 model since it may provide faster speeds with the newer bands. It has not been certified yet for AT&T but will be in the next few months so you could use it for all carriers except Sprint. Sprint does not work with the new SIM7 model and you should still use the SIM4. The SIM4 model works with all carriers but does not have the new faster bands.

Please browse through the comments to get more information about the MoFi and how it is working for other subscribers.

Thanks for your CLEAR explanation. I've probably watched 20 videos and didn't understand from ANY of those other presentations what the different gadgets were for. Now I finally understand that what I need for my RV is a ROUTER to connect my phone and laptop AS WELL AS GET ME OFF TETHERING AND ON STREAMING, and an ANTENNA TO PULL IN THE INTERNET FROM AFAR. It finally makes sense! Thank you so very much.

Hi! Thanks for still actively answering comments. Just seeking clarification based on your video, edits to the description, and comments on the video. Please let me know if my understanding is correct.

Based on my understanding, if I am looking at adding a line to an AT&T unlimited cellphone plan (to use the new line in the MoFi as untethered data), I should:
1) Purchase the new SIM7 version of the MoFi 4500 4G LTE Router
2) Activate the SIM card in a phone prior to using it in the router
3) Set up router as instructed in the video

Thanks in advance!

I couldnt afford the Insty and picked up a tablet for $25.00 on youtube with it's iemi no. and then purchased a $20.00 AT&T plan. Finally being off grid I have a way not to have constant aggrevating buffering and taking forever to upload videos to my youtube channel. Thanks so very much Jason. Also for answering so many questions I had about the MOFI and AT&T before I purchased my set up.

Sele Training - So after seeing this in Oct. 2019, I bought the Mofi - I knew from cellmapper app and opensignal app that ATT was better choice for my rural location. I just bought an ATT prepaid sim($10) and since the mofi takes a "standard Sim" you don't have to break it just put it in, of course after activation. I don't know about any $20 ipad plan, it may be out there but the "unlimited data connect plan" for $40($35 with autopay) is what I went with. And let me tell you, I thought I was tech savvy but boy was I wrong lol Sele I think your right when on the move but for those that are going to "set it and forget it" just plug it in and do the wizard, that's it lol. Trust me, it's going to switch bands and do carrier aggregation and all that fancy mofi stuff. No throttle, and I didn't expect it either because we're in low populated area. 124gb at 28days. I do game and so I bought the mofi cloud($15/month) it gave me a "public IP" so that I have a open NAT. So....$110(150gb) for ViaSat to $35+$15=$50/month. Saving $60, mofi paid back in 5 months. Great video, so glad I came across it. And that same plan is $10/month if your on food stamps and within ATT 21 state service map.

Latest Update: I have confirmed this works with T-Mobile, AT&T and Sprint. Some people have had success with Verizon with a data plan for hotspots or with the TTL set to 64 on the MoFi but others have not been able to get it working. I did recently test Metro by T-Mobile and it did not work although it could still be a setting on the MoFi. I didn't have enough time with it to find a solution. It just didn't work with the same settings as a T-Mobile sim. I was able to add an additional cell line to my T-Mobile plan for $20 with tax included and took the sim from the cell phone to insert into the MoFi. That plan works solid for over 100GB of data per month with no throttling. My highest usage was 159GB. I also purchased a single AT&T line for an iPad for $20 plus tax per month. It took me three AT&T stores to find the right salesperson to get me that plan so shop around. It is available for new customers but not all stores mention it. Ask for an iPad unlimited data plan. It is limited to 22GB per month before throttling but with the MoFi you can go over that with no issues. I now alternate between T-Mobile and AT&T sim cards in the MoFi depending on my coverage options when I travel. All my devices still connect to the MoFi WiFi hotspot and don't need any changes when I swap out the sim. You do have to change the carrier setting on the MoFi when you do this and may have to search for a new band to get the connection. That process may take 10 minutes of reboots before you get it set. Please comment below if you have had success or not with your cell carrier. Also, check the link in the video description to make sure you have the correct MoFi product for your location.

OK, I just want to fully understand before I jump in. I currently have a Mofi4500 and two yagi antennas. I use Netzero with AT&T. The nearest AT&T tower is about 3.5 miles away. My internet is better than my old DSL, but still sucks. I get 10mbs at the most and less than 1 when congested.
The T-mobile tower is less than a mile. We have T-Mobile with unlimited cell service. We get 4 bars most of the time.
Here's what I need to be clear on. I get another T-Mobile line? It is $25. I have new extra sim cards. Do I take my sim card to the T-Mobile store to get it activated? Or do I just put it in my Mofi and go for it? Thanks, I can't wait, answer please. Larry

I just read pages and pages of comments, you Sir have the patience of Job, well done. Visible still works, I have had mine going for 3 solid weeks now, pulling around 40gigs a week. impressive to say the least. That's 3 computers, two cell phones and at least 1 TV, adding more this week.

OMG this works! We are in an area outside of town and the best i could pull with my phone was 2mbps. Video was completely impossible.. This router is hitting a verizon tower 7 miles away and pulling 50mbps down and 10mbps up! Fantastic!

I used your video and installed the MoFi 4500 in my RV and connected it to a Weboost Cell Booster AND internal ASUS Wifi. My setup works like a Champ and I have you to thank. I buy an extra T-Mobile Unlimited Line for $10 a month JUST for the RV. I setup DynDNS to allow me to view installed cameras on the RV from anywhere on my mobile phone. Lastly, I setup a VPN connect back to my home to view internal and external cameras and other sensors from my RV located anywhere. Yes, I am a geek. Thank u.

For those of you trying to use Verizon there is a solution that has been confirmed to work by two subscribers. In the MoFi menu go to Network-Mofi Internal Modem and change the ISP TTL setting from "Linux-2 65" to "Linux 64". That has allowed them to go past the throttled data limit with their Verizon sim in the MoFi. For all other carriers the TTL should stay at the default of "Linux-2 65". Please let me know if anyone else has success using this setting for Verizon.

... was motivated by exactly every thing you just stated...

... resorted to same cause of action as best solution

... the router is the difference .... using a mobile router...

... greatest revelation is the TTL change....

... did not know there was streaming and tethering and the difference

Thank you so much... a gold mine.

As a former marketer with an internationally known company, using the words "less expensive" is better than saying cheaper, as it does not diminish quality, in the mind of customers.

I don't understand... since the sim card is proprietary and any carrier providing a sim card would technically know the amount of data your using per month... how can you get unlimited when you buy, for example... a sim card from T-Mobile that's going for 8GB LTE for $20/month. How would you bypass that?

For those that don't know, AT&T has cracked down on this type of solution with other modems that don't obscure the type of usage as the Mofi does. They pretty much shutdown all ATT business with Blazing Hog and Netbuddy who were resellers of SIMs. The 22Gb "unlimited" plans they offered also no longer exist. Just an FYI for noobs to this type of solution.
