I had a good family friend from Ireland...my god the little quips and jabs he would make towards me and my brothers were always so quick and brutal, but sort of endearing in a uncle sort of way. He never bullied us or anything, just kind of made us aware of things we could improve on. It was like constructive criticism for a growing boy to learn from. For example, I was a super shy kid until one day when I was maybe around 11 he told me that "Only thinkers or sissies are as quiet as you, it's too bad I don't see you read much kiddo." He really was a super wholesome down to earth man, I wonder how he is sometimes.

For those interested, the song is “come out ye blacks and tans” and is about the British “blacks and tans”, a paramilitary/police force made up of WWI vets that were sent to Ireland to suppress uprisings. Specifically, it’s about running them off and making them look like fools. I believe this is the version by The Wolfe Tones
