A very easy way to enable trim without using terminal for SSD's is simply open Gnome Disks from Menu, select SSD, click Edit Mount Options under Additional partition options gears icon and then add these two mount options: noatime, discard. Do this for all SSD partitions. Once done, reboot PC for it to take effect. Mount options are stored in /etc/fstab. Note: Don't use discard mount option if you don't want continuous trim. Use the recommended fstrim service in the OP video instead but with noatime mount option. Noatime mount option fully disables writing file access times to the drive every time you read a file, this reduces the writes to SSD therefore increasing lifespan of SSD.

Use f2fs. It's made for ssds. It's in the manjaro installer.

Ext4 is prehistoric. It makes NTFS look fancy. The modern Linux filesystems are btrfs and zfs. (There are good arguments for XFS too.) If you want to use flash media, the obvious choice is f2fs.

having issues installing mint 19 on my pc, jas an ssd, and hdd, and uefi bios current win 10 home. It seems to eat the harddrive space when i manage to get the install started. I can activly open a file manager and see the used and available space, seeing the remaining diminish dwindle.

thats why i have only hdds.. my linux is writing syslog - which is normal..
i think a ssd is great for installing programs or games on.. but not for the operating system - or you need to have swap and /var on an hdd..

i stick to hdd thanks.
