The shot at 39:37 is unbelievable. The action he got on the rock from the cue position he had to play is divine. Hendry said it best about O'Sullivan regarding his build-up. You have to take him down with authority. If you have a lead you need to build on it and keep him in his chair, because given the chance he''ll just get stronger and stronger, and eventually he'll steamroll right over you.

I remember this day clearly.
I really believed Ronnie was favorite and capable of producing something special in this final. I really enjoyed his attitude all week and was sure he was about to explode and give an historic performance. People who heard me said I was crazy, Neil is the clear favorite. I told them, just look and see, Ronnie is in an UNTOUCHABLE FORM.
I rushed home from work to catch as much of the match I could, all day I was hearing reports that Ronnie is struggling and Neil does little wrong. I arrived home just as Neil went 6-5 up. The next frame Ronnie was on a 49 break and on his way to level to 6-6 and then he missed and Neil punished him with a superb 88. 7-5 to Neil in the mis-session interval. Neil was just looking too strong.
We were on 15-minute break, all this time I was thinking how could I get this so wrong? I was so looking forward to the GOAT giving a once in a lifetime performance. Ronnie was doing very well to keep up with Neil but almost zero magic was produced by the rocket.
What went on in the last 6 frames you can all see here, the only thing on my mind was I want it to be over and over quickly, I just couldn't handle another twist, Luckily Ronnie not once took his foot off the gas.

Brilliant editing. Neil was very unlucky with that miscue.
I believe they were headed for a decider.

17:00 - well deserved praise, by Ken, of Neil's straight cue action, etc. When he gets to the finals of majors, he usually wins. He was ranked in the top 10 from 2007 to 2017 (and maybe more recently as well, but his Wiki page doesn't show more recent stuff). He has world #1 potential. Needs to figure out what needs to be improved, then improve it.

8:05 - the first red might have been a bit lucky, the next eight or so shots were magical

The refusal of a long pot from Robertson when you're 2 frame ahead was a mistake, Ron don't need to practice he just needs to let go of everything in his mind and he will naturally play better.

Super-lucky-
