The Serratus Anterior Muscle

Показать описание
👉 Weakness or tightness in the serratus anterior muscle can lead to shoulder and neck pain, as well as difficulty with overhead activities.

👉 Serratus anterior pain is often associated with shoulder impingement syndrome, an overuse injury caused by repetitive shoulder motions.

👉 Serratus anterior pain is often described as a deep, burning, or aching sensation that can be felt throughout the chest and shoulder.

Pain will be experienced on the side of the ribcage, traveling into the armpit and posteriorly to the medial aspect of the inferior angle of the scapula.
Pain is often mistaken for C8 nerve problems, as pain is referred down the inside of the arm into the palm, fifth digit (little finger), and fourth digit.
As this muscle has many digitations, careful assessment is required in order to locate active central myofascial trigger points.

You have the origin and insertion reversed. Originates from the ribs, inserts to the scapula.

How does it lift your arm vertically when the muscle runs horizontally ?

Wrong info on a very simple topic. You had one job and still messed it up, well done 😂

The origin is from the ribs, not the other way around. The action has nothing to do with lifting up. It protracts the scapula, i.e. reaching forward with your shoulder.

I sneezed one day and this part of my body immediately started hurting. 2 weeks in healing process I sneezed again in an awkward position. Worser than the first time. I’m in so much pain.

Also protracts the scapula due to its attachment
