Chemical peels have been in the systems since ages. Cleopatra used to bathe in sour milk, which is nothing but lactic acid which was hydrating the skin and gently exfoliating the skin. So chemical peels these days are designed with different combination. So they are delivered to the skin in a sustained fashion without causing damage to the skin. So if a right thing is done in a right way it is always right, so if it is right thing done in a wrong way, it is always wrong. If you do a peel in a dry skin or an irritated skin or sensitive skin, then it can give you a problem. Usually peels that are supercritical peels like low concentration of glycolic peels, salicylic peels, lactic peels, arginine peels. So they cause damage to the skin, they cause tingling sensation where the peel is applied. But burning is a rare phenomena with this. But when you are choosing this peel then you have to be careful because little bit over damage can cause more damage to the skin cells. So on average when the peels are done by dermatologists, they choose the right peel and the right skin and the right duration in between the peels. So you cannot keep peeling your skin every week. So if it is a peel where 3 to 4 weeks once it is enough. If you are doing peels to treat your acne then every 15 days it is enough. So see to it that the skin is not dry. So if the peels are done in the right way on the right skin, then they work wonders and they do not burn the skin if it is done in the right way.
