Sinkhole victim: Scuba divers deployed to enter chamber

Two scuba divers have been deployed to search the chamber where a 48-year-old woman who fell into a sinkhole on Jalan Masjid India may have been swept away, said Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Services Department director Nordin Pauzi on Friday (Aug 23).

Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Maimunah Mohd Sharif assured that business operations on Jalan Masjid India can resume as usual, as the area has been confirmed safe.

That is not a natural sink hole becos its opening is square shape. I think it is a man hole but patched up or filled up with sand without any support underneath. A bad construction.

These sinkholes are literal openings to hell. So many cases like this in US people just gets swallowed up and never seen again. With so many torrential rains and flood nowadays would that have cause these sinkholes?

It doesn't look like a sinkhole. There are pipes or cables running across the hole which suggests it has been excavated but not properly filled up. It appears the man-cover fitted over the hole was not up to strength and liable to give way if someone walked on it.

Why not just use some drain pipe camera tools or underwater drone to check?? People who design drainage system should have provided method to observe and maintainance in case blockage, etc.
