This video is excellent on so many levels. You really tied it all together and helped make sense of the WordPress documentation and web design books I've been reading, because you actually showed how to set up a proper development environment, explained which tools we'd need, and why. Earlier today, I saw the video on how you started and was really inspired by your story. While working at a F/T job and needing a website for your real estate work, you decided to learn to do it on your own after being told what it cost. Yet here you are today, not only an accomplished full-stack developer but also offering help to other real estate agents to become website owners. You're amazing, Sir! That's a lot like how I got started, working F/T in something entirely else, wanting a side gig, but blown away at the unaffordable price (for me at least) of having someone build my website, I too decided to build my own. When I saw how easy it was, I decided to build websites for others, but in order to offer better features and services, I started learning all I could so as to become a full-stack developer, not just a front-end one. Thank you for your great videos, guidance and inspiration. I look forward to future videos and wish you all the best!

Thank you! I'm only part-way through the video (and am not using MAMP so not following to the letter) but am happy that I have finally, finally! got git going. Your walk through of git-bash makes so much sense I now wonder why I didn't get it before. I'm working on a few websites for people and not having fully understood git and having good version control was stressing me out. Now that's all sorted. Phew!

I had an error when trying to compile sass. I think it's because the gulpfile.js is set to work with Firefox.
After a quick google search I changed some values in gulpfile.js and in and it worked.
Also thank you very much for this informative tutorial!

Great tutorial! GG!
Also I think Laravel valet (localhost dev server) and WP CLI would be nice additions to this workflow ;) *

Looking to start learning the ins and out of Wordpress, and work towards freelancing once I've gotten a grasp of it. I was wondering if anyone would know of what PixemWeb video I should start watching first, would it be the ones from the Wordpress for beginners playlist?? I know html, css and js for the moment . Thanks

great tutorial. Could you give a clue how to set up SASS in gulpfile instead of SCSS? thanx

The tutorial was little fast for me, but when I slowed it down I was able to absorb it better. A couple of questions: I currently use Atom as my file editor with the SASS auto-compile package ... if I install gulp-sass via NPM would you recommend that I uninstall SASS auto-compile? Secondly, what is this require(), I am a neophyte when in comes to working with js-node and npm modules. Can you share any resources that might me understand what you are doing with require()?

Hi, great tutorial. Challenge is I'm having trouble creating the node_modules folder with the "npm install --save-dev gulp".

Really good video. Auto-update your browser window is not working. I am using Mac El Captian and I am using Mamp Pro to setup my wordpress sites in HOME Directory/Sites/
When I run gulp and start making changes to the styles.scss file, I do not see any change update in the Mac Terminal. Can you help, as I am stuck at this point of the video (26:40) Nothing happens. Do I need to change anything in the gulpfile? For example the section of //Name of working theme folder. Also what is srcjs/, as I cannot see it in the folder directory? Many thanks. Josh
