Sony Xperia 1 IV vs iPhone 13 Pro Max vs Galaxy S22 Ultra Real World Camera Test

The Sony Xperia 1 IV Camera review is a difficult one because the camera system and software are so different from the others so I am going to have to spend more time with it but I thought I would stack the Xperia 1 IV vs the iPhone 13 Pro Max and the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra camera during my trip to Hawaii. I took the 3 cameras with me on a day with my family to show you what a real world camera test would look like if you had all these phones in your pocket. Sony photos pick up the natural colors.
No over-saturation. Little dim but looks good to my eyes.

I mainly use a mirrorless camera (Lumix GX85, quite underrated) but I find my S22U is the next best thing for my usage. The Xperia needs some work but is overall impressive. The 13 Pro Max seems to mess up the skintones sometimes but takes lovely video. And the S22U is the jack of all trades, like I said. The next best thing for me.

Samsung used to have a reputation of having oversaturated photos. Seems like iPhone photos are even more saturated than Samsung now! I prefer the S22 Ultra's camera system overall and their zoom capabilities are amazing, however the iPhone has a very slightly better portrait mode and front video. Honestly you can't go wrong with either the iPhone or the Samsung. The Xperia is seriously lacking with only one or two photos being arguably better in this entire video. Great comparison Danny, keep these types of videos coming

Easily one of the best comparison videos between these phones. So many samples to look at, many with different environments and lighting too. Opinions left to the viewer. Highly recommend watching this on a large screen 4K TV to really appreciate the differences.

The S22U seems to be the best all-rounder but it's pretty close except for the zoom capabilities of course, never understood why Sony doesn't stand above everything else with all their camera expertise, so if I had to pick one I'd go with the S22U.

Excellent comparison, as always. These are useful for folks like me looking at the camera prowess of these phones.
Would prefer a little commentary though, particularly when some context is needed. For example, the blown highlights on the Sony, is mostly on portrait mode shots, not the standard modes, but that may not be obvious at first glance. Also the 'optical' zoom range on the sony, would have been worth a look.
I would like to see a daylight comparison with the Vivo X80 pro vs iphone 13 max and s22 ultra, for your next project 🙂

Sony always lags behind in auto mode, but mark IV is like an upgrade in auto mode, although sometimes it's still not as good as iPhone or Samsung, but I still choose sony because I don't really care about auto mode but this is good enough
