One of the few tech reviewers that remains loyal to the enthusiasts.
Thanks Juan

As someone that shoots manual on all of his mirrorless cameras thank you Juan for feeding focus peaking back. Man, I am really impressed with this Sony.

I have a 1 iii, and at this point in my phone's lifecycle, usually they start to slow down and get buggy. This is the first phone i have had that is still just as snappy as it was day one. I plan on keeping it another year at this rate!

I got a Sony Xperia 1 IV after watching your review. I really like the natural look and not so over processed images it delivers, during the day time its amazing. I find indoors, low light and night time it can still perform but you start to see the difference and to be honest with the hardware its using i do believe we can get better quality images from it that we are seeing if it gets the right updates. The problem that i have had and forced me to buy another phone ( pixel 7 pro) was the last 6 months of updates the signal on the wifi, GPS and phone got weaker and weaker.

What i have found quite interesting is testing the Xperia against the Pixel, both have much more stream lined camera functions. Sure the Xperia can use a pro function but you are not bloated with pointless features.

I think if there is one thing I want them to improve on is software support for those that have a Sony Xperia mk3 and Mk4 in terms of increasing the support to 4 or 5 years.

Such an exciting update. It's literally everything I wanted improving from the 1 IV.

I can cope with losing the notification led 😄

Ive the IV and have used Sony phones for many years, the camera jump once the Xperia line came was astonishing
Im using the MK IV, after all the updates it has subtle improvements
I do hope Sony will bring the ui update to the MKIV and add any image optimization improvements that they can with current hardware/software
It was such a late release with the IV, the next generation jump, as welcome as it is, i still feel the MKIV has plenty to still offer.
My only gripe on the IV is the widely variable signal reception but most times i use hot spots for wi fi calling so its not a major issue.
It was great to see a comparison between the two !

I'd love to see a camera comparison between the mark V, the Xiaomi 13U, the note 23 (if you still have it), and the pixel 7 pro. I'm especially interested to see the differences in RAW files.
Also does the mark V have a high resolution 48mp mode?

Loving the Xperia V info and comparison to the mark iv. I will be upgrading to the V from the 1iii. I am happy to see that the thermal issues have been adressed on this latest model And its good to know that the Xperia gaming gear is compatible too!

Thx for the great viddy sir!

Kudos to you man, you're great at reviewing the nitty gritty of tech rather than just the basic overview stuff. Some other tech channels poo poo these Xperias for what I think are kind of dumb reasons (ie not a great auto camera mode, gets hot and warns you about it rather than dropping video quality, etc). Yes they're niche phones, but I'm part of that niche and I love my 1 mark III a year and a half into ownership. I've had a great experience shooting photos, videos, storing them on my micro sd card, and using the headphone jack basically every day.

Last sony i owned was the xperia z2.
Have basically been samsung since then, with a windows phone and rog phone as outliers.
But, this seriously makes me question my next update.
Loved the z2 camera way back when, and this is looking to be a fantastic set up.

I'm so glad they kept the microsd, 3.5 mm jack and especially the LED notification light. If it didn't have one of these, I wouldn't even consider buying a Sony phone!

I'm just disappointed in removing that notification led. I don't know that 3diTof sensor from 1ii makes any sense?. What do you think?
Can you compare speakers and display brightness?

Since you have some influence, can you please tell them to push software updates for more than two major updates? Thanks! As always you're the one who tells everything as it should be. Greetings from Algeria.

I just upgraded from my 5 mark II to the 1 mark V and I'm loving it. The 5II was already my favorite Xperia ever since the Acro S and now the 1V is taking that torch.

The VI was tempting and I never felt the need to have a 4k display in a phone, but the 21:9 aspect ratio is just the best at handling and the price drop was just what I needed.
