Cool that the SSD *COULD* do that. How about the other components?

Never thought CPUs would bottleneck our storage.

You'd have to be bought into a motherboard that supports PCIe Gen 5 in the M.2 slot, and also have a cpu that a.) Supports gen 5 as well and b.) Can process that much data. Assuming all can be afforded as prices are coming down for current gen, it's only a matter of time before PC finally gets more games with Direct Storage support

That heatsink is beefier that my CPU cooling lol

No you DON’T want this “upgrade”.

Reason being, you’ll barely notice any difference with normal operations. Just look at Pcie 3 vs 4, not much difference despite showing otherwise on paper.

Don’t waste your money guys.

I love the Robots reference. Its my childhood movie.

You won't be able to fill it in 3, 5 min, you will run out of the slc cache of the SSD way before

BUT your other device has to support that speed too oc.

"It's gonna be expensive"
I want a LOT of things for my PC.

Bro, this thing has its own air cooler. 😂 I'll just wait 2 years for this to come out on the EVO. I'll upgrade my motherboard, cpu, and this at the same time

never thought an storage drive would need a whole a$$ heat sink to cool down 💀

The 980 pro I have doing 7, 000MB/s yep these numbers make sense

Gen 4.0 Kingston KC3000 2TB WITH 7000 Read/Write for $180. Or WD SN850X. I think those are way better value, and that is still overkill.

Anyone considering these m.2s, reconsider

All of these drop the PCIe speeds of your top (GPU) slot to x8

There will be zero perf gains from these drives for gaming and there is a measurable (if small) drop in perf from going from x16 to x8

Hard skip. Near worthless product and feature targeted toward ignorant wealthy customers -- not a heavily populated combination

Nah, hard skip. Even SATA SSD is already good enough for most people. NVMe 3.0 already ideal, and 4.0 is overkill for the time being since your other parts won't be able to keep up.
5.0 feels like a waste of money and only for people who doesn't care about value anymore and just buy whatever the most expensive at the market. Plus you'll need Z790/X670 as well which means it's going to be even more expensive. Same thing with your PCIe for your cards for instance; We haven't even utilized 4.0 properly yet we already got 5.0.

At this speed anything lower than 1tb shouldnt be an option.. and at least 10tb options should be available..

I mean, how much difference would that make in the real world compared to my gen4 7000MB/s speeds? I'm guessing none but it's still impressive

Hey, how are yall PCIe 5.0 M 2 slots?

Shit's so fast it needs it's own dedicated passive cooler
