SSD: mission complete
HDD: you'll be old too one day

I see no point in using HDD for games anymore. It's really meant for archiving purposes now because of the higher space to price. SSD's are so cheap right now, there's no excuse to use one for the OS and gaming.

Gen 3 NVMEs are now very affordable, the cheaper 1TB ones are around $45 and they’re still much faster than HDDs. Though for 4TB and above, HDDs still provide best value

Just imagine all the time spent staring at loading screens on HDD's. It all adds up over time.

I replaced my entire system with a combination of SATA SSD, M.2 and NVME last year. Best decision ever. Although the long waiting times of HDD back in the day made me appreciate going into a game. The suspense haha.

It's 2023, and we are still comparing speeds between hard drives and SSD products? I'm checking NewEgg, and the cheapest 240-256GB SATA SSD is now around $17, while the cheapest 480-512GB SATA SSDs are around $25. At this point, the regular hard drives are good only for large capacity storage, not for gaming.

What I find is so funny cracked games load faster than the games you buy from Steam.

Man anything is faster than a HDD. I'm happy with my Gen 3 speed. It's not perfect but saved bunch of my sanity from waiting and keep waiting for them to load. Miss those days when you can just go make some coffee while waiting for them to load and rethinking your whole life.

Just get an M.2, you'll like it. Make sure it's an NVMe, not a SATA, so that your mobo doesn't deactivate one of your SATA devices to make room for it in the bus.
I still use a spinner drive (HDD) for important data.
But a SSD is great for games - faster load speeds, and if it suddenly dies, no big loss.

I still remember the Amiga and Atari days when you sometimes had to swap half a dozen floppy disk continuously, and waiting minutes to play was normal.
God i miss the sound those 3, 5 720kb drives make ...

Sad about the fact that those loading menu tips aren't readable anymore

everyone knows the ssd is more faster than the hdd, you should test it with the regular sata 3.

Long loading times is a deal breaker for me, no matter how great a game is. Pcie 5.0 SSD certainly helped. But I know that very soon, technology advancement will make any game load almost instantaneously.

If you want speed and data redundancy just buy at least 4 2TB HDDS and drop them in RAID 10
