I have heard two different opinions regarding the nature of this version of Godzilla: That of the vengeful and implacable deity, who plans to punish Humanity, to the degree of being Machiavellian in his plans, something similar to Earth Godzilla
And the other is that of the perpetual victim. A being who does not understand what is happening, who lives in constant agony, but whose pain comes precisely from his mutations and deformities, which, in fact, is what makes him so indestructible and adaptable, in a horrendous paradox where, for suffering so much Godzilla does more damage to others, who respond violently and force his body to continue to adapt, making this a horrible vicious cycle. And, depressing as it is, I think I'm left with that feeling. Shin Godzilla has a different air from other movies, not only because it moves away from the topic of monster fights, but because even though there is a battle between the kaiju and humans, everything has a horrifying, depressing and creepy air, with horror topics that they are not felt in other movies where Godzilla is the antagonist combined with the grotesqueness of his appearance and even the aspect of empathy, feeling bad for him, even being a destructive murderer, because no living being should be subjected to something like that. I don't feel capable of saying that just because of that premise it is the best Godzilla movie, but what I can assure you is that it is among the best.
