I am totally new to CAD, all I need now is to convert existing drawings from our engineers into CNC programs and the conwerter has certain requirements for layer naming. I had one routing line in layer 0 that couldn't be benamed so this is what I needed to do. Thank you so much.

i cant move to when i moved it form one to another layer displayed that changed layer but till it's on the previous layer.

you can also make the layer you want to change to your current layer.  draw a polyline.  then isolate your polyline you just drew along with the layer you are wanting to change.  then type "ma" or choose match properties.  select the polyline of the layer you want then click and drag across the screen.  it should highlight everything that was isolated and change it to the layer you first selected with the match properties command.  then type layon and delete the polyline you drew initially.

Is it possible to change the layer for just a portion of line? Lets say a part of line is visible and rest is hidden so have to use to different layer for the same line without having to redraw the line

using the move command, then selecting objects, you should see the object moving around with the cursor, but it’s not.
how do i get that working again?

For some reason it wasn't working I simply closed the program (maybe just the file could done the trick) and re-opening the file showed the changes in the drawing in their proper layers.

Not sure whether Autocad 2022 has a refresh tool...

"Select similar" doesn't appear to work within blocks. Is there a way to include the lines within blocks without exploding those blocks?

for some reason when i do this and click the layer that i want the layer does not change to that layer.  My workaround is that i go to the properties tab that for me sits on the left side and change the attributes there? why does it not change?
