I'm using cc2020 and I use lasso or quick selection and alt>s>m>e>5 and shift f5 then enter.

Pen tool??? Why?? To select an area with pen tools is too much difficult, time-consuming, and tedious. Pen tool is an obsolete mechanism in Photoshop. In 2024 there are lot more other tools available for more accurate and quick selection in ps.
