India's first mid-air collision occurred on November 12, 1996, between two aircraft belonging to Saudi Arabian Airlines and Kazakhstan Airlines near Charkhi Dadri, Haryana. It resulted in a tragic accident, making it one of the most significant aviation incidents in the country's history.

It happened in my birthplace... My parents told me when it happened it was like as bright as sun and plane's parts were fallen upto 25 km away... Their were burnt corpses tied to their seat belt...it was Such a horrifiying scene...

This collision was around 40 km from my place. & My dad tells us that they saw a 2nd sun like light in the sky.

That crew from Kazakhstan regularly flew to England, to Europe, to the Emirates and to India for almost 10 years, they could not have made a mistake just like that, the strange thing was that 10 seconds before the dispatcher with a strong accent asked the radio operator about the altitude report and then the pilots began to sharply raise the aircraft, and before that, 1 minute before, the dispatcher most likely mispronounced the altitude "f...teen" and therefore asked again. England turned a blind eye to this.

Actually it happened due to delayed action of that Arab that times pilots were just not compulsorily learning english.they were just translating every sentence wasting time.
After this only air traffic laws made big decision to compulsify English learning to which all nations made there pilots to compulsory learn full and perfect English!!

What you didn't mention was that the Soviet Air plane was very ancient. There was a separate "navigator" on board the aircraft who sat at the bottom and handled both navigation, and air traffic. The altitude was given in meters on the plane and everyone else international is using feet. Between the ghetto and outdated flight controls, and the poor English of the captain, there wasn't good enough communication between everyone on board and ATC .

What also made this incident happen was the air traffic was under military control except for a strip where planes both arriving and departing had the same path. The air traffic controllers had complained about this and their poor radar system which didn't tell them the plane's altitude. Due to the incompetent air port authority, nothing was done about it.
