Not fun fact: initially, there were 2 survivors on Saudi 763 and 4 survivors in Kazakh 1907 which managed to have some fly ability before hitting the ground and thus not discintegrating on impact (one of the Kazakh suvivors included the F/O) (some pictures show the shattered cockpit) but all 6 of them died shortly after.

There some things that this animation missed:
The Saudi plane’s left horizontal stabilizer sliced off KZA plane’s vertical stabilizer. The KZA plane lost most of its left wing and climbed briefly after the collision. The Saudi plane disintegrated before impacting the ground.

I know that ACI’s animations are usually not very accurate, but I write this comment for those who want to know how exactly this happened in real life.

For those who don't know, the Kazakhstan airlines was supposed to fly at 15, 000 ft ie 1000 ft above the another plane.

The pilot of the Kazakhstan airlines didn't understand English and someone in the plane was translating the messages to Russian and wrongly translated 15000 ft to 14500 ft. The pilot was also not paying attention and was heard talking about air traffic in new Delhi.

After this incident India made TCAS mandatory for all aircrafts with 30+ passenger capacity. Many nations and airlines initially opposed this decision but later agreed when there was no other option.

In 1998 India raised this issue internationally demanding for changes in the aviation industry because of which now we have two separate Airways for landing as well as takeoff and TCAS in every aircraft.

These measures were successful and till date no other mid air collision has happened after this incident.

A DGCA official rightfully said "If your report is spatted with blood, implementation becomes easy" because the government kept on ignoring the recommendations of DGCA to make TCAS mandatory but suddenly woke up and implemented it after this accident.

The Saudia 747 originally had a route from Heathrow to Riyad/Riyadh but it was changed 4 months before this accident.
