This anime is just incredible. Someone who was meant to be a villain became a kind, brave, and amazing girl. How she changed the story of fortune lover so much is just incredible beyond words.

I actually need to say something about Katarina
I relate to her, and I can understand a lot about her obilviousness.
I know some would get mad at her for being dumb and not noticing how everyone feels around her, but unless you lived in FEAR your whole life... I don't think you'd understand this.
Think about this for a minute, she was only 9 years old... (let that sink in) and after hitting her head she had her whole PAST life flash before her eyes. Only to learn she reincarnated as villainess in a romance game.... Where no matter what happened, she is DOOMED TO DIE!!!!

Let all of this sink in and think for a minute.
How do you think you or any kid their age or younger would feel, growing up knowing you were going to die or be exiled, huh? And before you truly began to live your life?

She spends her whole life preparing and bracing her self for the inevitable outcome where she would either die or be exiled.
Yes she made friends with everyone, and she did have a great time growing up too. But that fear never left her, as you can tell even when she enters the school.
She even says after talking to Geordo and Keith " I can't let my guard down"
(Notably, at the end of episode...5 or 6? after she saves Maria from the bullies with her earth bump " time to do my best and keep working my tail off")
As for her density and lack of awareness
My..."father" personally was unstable.
It was gamble in my house, I roll the dice and slot machine every 3 minutes at most to see what WORDS, Clothes I wore, and even what type of breathing, would set him off
to cope with it all, I would drown out and do my best to forget everything he did that hurt me and my family.
I tried to live in the ignorant bliss of believing there was nothing wrong.
Katarina of course had the benefit of having people who cared about her and supported her sure.
BUT She couldn't tell them what she was afraid of.
She couldn't tell any of them
"Hey Guys I remembered my past life and in this life some of you are either going to KILL ME or EXILE me because of this one girl you might fall in love with"
Not only is she living in fear, but she is also having to keep it all locked up inside too.
And anytime she gets a chance to have fun and not think about her impending doom, she takes full advantage of.
After all do you think depressed, traumatized, or anybody in a bad place is going to wanna constantly be thinking of their horrible situation they are stuck in?
NO!! besides, after anyone gets better or is able to move on past their problems and/or abuse, its best to not let the past or your fears take control.
(I wonder if "in game Katarina" was the villainess because she was afraid of whay MAria was gonna do, kinda like evil rulers who hear a prophecy then do something stupid to prevent it... Like mass genocide or killing someone's kid)
Now sure that also could be just her personality in her past life too, (not to mention she hit her head pretty hard).
But this is something I think about.
