Engineers are just as smart as Physicist's

The usual method for the second question would be to use integration by parts twice, or a real engineer would just use the online integration calculator.

Howard's last answer was a pretty smart move considering he also showed how he not only knew about every interpretation to quantum mechanics, he knows everything about the interpretation Sheldon favors.

Physicists have their heads in the clouds formulating theories. Engineers are down on the Earth making those theories become practical. Both complement each other and are equally important.

Ironic looking back at this when in a young Sheldon episode he was constantly outdone by a engineering teacher who refused to tell him how wrong he was on every paper he handed in. So if ya think about it every form of science he views as pointless and Beneath him there was a scientist involved in that field who either made fun of him or he thought they were making fun of him.

As an engineering technician works for an engineer, I can say that they are a different type of smart. Just like any knowledgeable person in one field compared to another. Sheldon is a theorist scientist, Howard is a practical one.

always loved the scenes of Howard getting back at sheldon somehow. That last "no" gets me everytime

It would have been weirdly heartwarming if Sheldon at one point in the series finally told Howard that he believed he was as smart as a physicist granted the average one at best like Leonard, but that not all Engineers are as smart as physicists, So taken in a weirdly heartwarming way. Sheldon thinks Howard is a cut above the rest in terms of engineers, which is why he dismisses Howards claims that Engineers are just as smart as Physicists because it would diminish Howards place as being higher up on the ladder and would essentially drop him down to the standard of mediocrity by brining every other engineer up to his level just because regardless of personal academic achievement, contributions, and education.

the final "no" from howard is just gold

What Sheldon never considered or rather does not want to consider is that Engineers take what Physicists discover and tries to make a practical application of their findings, however Sheldons constant superior attitude in himself won’t allow him to see this truth.

Howard should get to ask Sheldon a question about how to build something.

Once they gave a red ball to a mathematician, physicist and an engineer. And asked them to measure its volume.
A mathematician took very precise measurements with a ruler and then took a triple integral.
Physicist filled a beaker with water and threw the ball inside the beaker, then measured the water displacement.
An engineer went to find a “Red Ball Table” to look up its volume.

this has to be one of the most underrated scene among 12 seasons of TBBT

I am an engineer and I can confirm that we are not autistic, we even know that pi does equal 3 and g = 10!

Engineers take what physicists discover and figure out what to do with it. So. . .

That's not even a difficult integral. It's one of the first things you learn when you learn calculus

Engineer s actually see their work when its done correctly

what amuses me most about Big Bang Theory is that this all sounds real high and smart or whatever, but a few classes in undergrad college cover all this. anyone in a STEM field (or at least Engineering, Math, and Physics) should not have trouble answering these questions, and certainly not a PhD in them. a general physics question, a calc 2 question, and a "quantum mechanics but is actually just an introductory nothing statement" question.

I miss those days I wish I could go back then in time and relive all these years again having my present conciousness 🤞

I just want to say... Coming up with new formulas is definitely harder, but it's easy to see how engineering is more rewarding. How many theorical physicist manage to bare fruit of their studies? Not much, they are just devoted to a study that may end in failure, and if they get results it should be more rewarding than anything but, as it's not always the case, it's way better to find solutions for real life problems... Still, if they have devotion to what they do, I guess it's all worth it in the end even if it ended in failure, such as sport players that don't succeed but loved the sport so much that it was still rewarding.
