Sounds like the trigger has snapped internally. Contact Dyson they will replace it.

If u activate ur warranty Dyson will replace ur vacuum for free or find another way to solve the issue.

Appreciate the feedback. Luckily my warranty is still good for another year. Dyson has agreed to replace body.
