Just rediscovered beets. Did not like them as a kid [who does?] and spent my whole life avoiding them. Tried some the other day and wow, I was missing out. Now I try to include them as often as I can. Been eating beet microgreens, but decided to try to grow all the way. Great video

I love roasted beets. But my favorite part of beets? Beet greens! I like the greens sauteed in butter and EVOO with a little garlic. Delish!

My beets didn't do anything in our last cool season here in S. Florida. I did a soil test, through Unibest. I found that my "Mel's Mix" soil was extremely deficient in both potassium and nitrogen. My mistake is that I didn't add as much fresh compost as I normally do. This growing guide confirms what I knew about beets and nitrogen. I'm sure not having potassium might have been a small part of the problem as well. Thanks for the info!

2 gardening seasons of trying to grow beets in northern Wisconsin. All I got was leaves and no bulbs. My Master-Gardener friend told me my soil was probably too high in nitrogen and too low in phosphorus. We had the soil tested AND it's too high in phosphorus and low in nitrogen. We applied the recommended amount of nitrogen to the whole garden; hopefully this corrects the problem and Luke is right!!

Grew golden beets they were very good ! Going to try a crop of red for winter.Had grown parsley and only used so much so we turned the rest into the soil. Hopefully this crop will be even better also added some sand to make the soil to make the soil easier for them to expand. I just love beet greens too ! 😊

I just put my beets down a few days ago and they're popping up! I'm in SW PA and my soil is kind of crappy (this is my first garden) but I'm hoping to get a few good ones! I love a beer roasted in the oven! YUMMY!!
