I only discovered The Why Files about a month before discovering your channel and I'm hooked. Both of your channels are fun and entertaining. Obviously your job is easier than AJ"s as you don't have a conspiracy nut sidekick obsessed with Lizzid Peeple and the crabcat. I've been a fan of Mr Ballen for a long time. All three of you are compelling storytellers

I spent every night of my childhood frozen in fear, up until my early teens. I never talked about it to anyone. I have been through therapy twice in my lifetime, both for extended periods of time. Yet, I never mentioned it to either therapist. It's not normal for a small child to be as fearful as I was for as many years as it was, yet for whatever reason I never talked about it to anyone. My younger sister and I are close, and we have talked about many things that happened throughout our lives, yet I have never even told her about it! Hearing you retell "Mr. Ballen's" story brought my childhood fears back to my mind. I think I should start writing it down while I still can. I'm 75 now, so I had better hurry!

AJ and Mr ballen are amazing story tellers too with their own way of portraying them just like you do!! YOU, AJ and hecklefish, Josh and Mr ballen are literally my top favorite story telling channels hands down 100 percent and there are A LOT of channels. Your personalities are genuine and welcoming !! You make me ( the subscriber and listener) feel like we are part of your family’s!! Like we are old friends etc and that might sound strange but that’s exactly how I feel when watching your guy’s videos ❤ so thank you for that!! AJ & John's accounts are terrifying! I've seen the shadow man a few times, & a shadow spider too. The shadow spider experience went on for a couple of years almost every night. The shadow man wearing a fedora was more like sleep paralysis, but the spider (it was very, very large) would always send me fleeing from my bed terrified! Well told as always Carol Ann👌❤

I spent my 20s doing meth, saw shadow people every time I was up for more than 3 nights at a time. My grandmother said she saw shadow people almost every night when my grandfather was passing away

I think it was Robert E. Howard who once observed that in order to harm the living an entity must itself be living. While ghosts may scare you they can't do you any damage. I think it is sad the young man lost two friends because of a terror in the night.

Youtube suggested a video of yours and I'm really liking your style in storytelling. Animated but slow enough for good amount of suspension and imagination to flow. :) You deserve so so many more subscribers, but you got one more from me. Also love MrBallen, this story of his genuinely freaked me out when I first heard it. Even if it's ''just'' sleep paralysis and natural as such, it's still terrifying.

19:59 This sounds like a residual haunting; it keeps performing the same actions over and over again at the same time every night. I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't a spirit but a reoccurring time in history playing out over and over again. Just more evidence for me to think that all time happens at once, that it's not linear like we think it is.

1976, Fort Sill Oklahoma. I dreamt of the Shadow Man. He told me it was not my time. And to run and catch up with my body. I saw my body going somewhere on it's own but my consciousness was looking at him. I looked over his shoulders and shadows women preparing a table for a feast. Mom had us in church all our lives. When i woke up; the first thought in my mind, ye tho i walk through the valley and the shadows of death, i will fear no Evil. Thy Rod and Staff, are family and friends, that have went before us. They will be there to Greet Us❤🎉❤🎉

1st story is a "Waking Nightmare" or Sleep Paralysis, often called "Old Hag Syndrome". It's a disorder that some people have every night. I just get it when the covers wrap around my body too tight. I don't wear night gowns, and I don't tuck my sheets or blankets in my bed because of this. It's horrible if it's chronic and not just somewhat episodic. Sometimes I've been able to throw myself off the bed to wake up completely so I can move. Mind over matter - but people who have it really bad are not able to do this.

Oooh AJ's story sent chills all over my body. And that story of Mr. Ballen's is still one the scariest stories I've ever heard. In fact, when I'm in the mood for scary stories, I put on that story of Mr. Ballen's. I pray I never have a paralyzing experience like either of those.

Shadow people. I caught one on photo and my husband and I moved not long after. It kept showing up to me as a small old woman named Millie. But that pic changed my mind. We were terrified. We had things happen but the shadow hat guy was the end. Life changing.
