Man in America where I live if u don’t have a car u’re practically stuck in ur home unless u call Uber. In my town we have like no public transportation, not even a bike lane

i really hope public transport becomes more common in america.. or even just bike lanes and sidewalks 🥲

The food and the fact that I had to walk everywhere had me in the best shape of my life for the 8 months I lived in seoul. Also went to the doctor twice and was stunned at the low cost.

When people ask me why Korea is my favorite country to visit I answer with “it’s just a super easy country to navigate”, even when you don’t understand Korean, you can even go to trips outside Seoul spontaneously..

I moved to South Korea 2 years ago from New York. Korea has very few CONS living here. Great country over all extremely safe too.

This is so true that you really dont need a car in korea, although my friend did have a car and we would drive to some places it was only because he lived outside of seoul and was convenient for his job. But nearly everywhere that you would want to go is pretty accessible by public transport. The negative is for people with disabilities- outside of seoul (and even sometimes inside) public transport can be a nightmare if youre in a wheelchair. Another of my friends has cerebral palsy and uses a chair and there were many times where lifts werent working, staff at train stations forgot our booking for the chair raise to the train itself, taxis would refuse us etc just something to keep in mind

The food is secretly one of my biggest reasons I want to live there. I have disordered eating and just the convenience of healthy food would help me so much.

I remember being shocked that I could take a day trip on a high speed train in the morning from Seoul to Haeundae Beach in Busan, play for the day, and then come back to sleep at my hostel for ~$50 USD iirc. This was only about 10 years ago. The beach was free, the showers were free, and the umbrellas were free. It’s still one of my favorite days.

I wouldnt say our food is healthy... we just love vegetables. We mostly eat fried chicken and a lot of carbs which are usually prepared with vegetables 😅

That is so true about the food and transportation. Their food in general is on the healthier side! And transportation is so good that you can go to places comfortably without a car. (experience as a traveler)

As a disabled person thats afraid i could wreck if i picked driving back up now with my worsened mental health/function, i really really wish public transport was more accessible in the US, . But as an autistic person with food & sensory issues & a very poor diet of only kid friendly processed foods, id stuuuuggle to find stuff i could eat.

I can confirm medicine is cheap, office visit and speed of prescription filling!

i know it’s far from perfect there too, but these 3 things are among the biggest advantages for quality of life that i can imagine. being american has its privileges but it’s really difficult to live here and be happy.

The food comment wow, I had quite opposite opinion when I compared Korean food to Europen one. I was struggling trying to find some veggies and felt there is too much meat

Definite healthy because the fruits and other ingredients are st^pidly expensive in east asia.
