Teens were told that eating spicy foods or anything red that is spicy gives acne. Also, eating chocolate or fried foods contributes to break-outs. We were told that if we ate vegetables & clean protein (fish & chicken) we would have clean skin.
However, I followed that advice but still deal with acne prone skin - especially during high stress life events & changes in hormones- like pregnancies & menstrual cycles... so I'm glad we have access to correct information from dermatologists like you guys! Thanks for sharing!

I’ve epilated for decades and now have little to no body hair. I also have to epilate less frequently than I did previously. Hair removal from the shaft is the ideal hair removal, in my opinion, if one doesn’t want to deal with body hair.

This was so cool to hear from actual dermatologists. I've also read that it's a myth, but all the women in my office disagreed when I tried to explain them that. All of them, no exceptions (like 40-45 of them there). So I think this "myth" will go on forever. What was new to me is that shaving in some cases is better.... than let's say waxing. But what about hair removal creams (depilatory creams)? Damaging/non-damaging... and are they causing ingrown hair, or they are closer to shaving than let's say waxing?

When I was growing up my mom ALWAYS told me to do not get sunburn and NEVER let me drink coffee or any sodas. She got it right. I look much younger than my same age friends that were at the beach all the time and drink soda like water. I have my kids now and they use sunscreen every day and they are just 5 and 10 years old. They don’t drink coffee or soda either. Thanks mom you were right!

A myth I was told so often when I was young, don't pull out any white hair because more will grow out instead. Kinda felt real because because I always pulled my white hair out and I got more grow. I started getting them in high school.

I grew up in Cleveland and my family went out on Lake Erie every weekend in the summer. Sadly, it wasn’t until we were completely sun-burnt that someone said, “You’re getting pretty red. You better put on some SUNTAN lotion.” So many burns… 🙄

what do y’all think of epilating? I’ve been doing that since prehistoric times and it’s worked relatively well - pretty much like tweezing times 100. 😂 but gets the hair up by the root, no skin pulling/ripping, rechargeable device you can use at home so you don’t have to pay for spa visits or threading appointments. 👍🏼

I bought an IPL gadget and used it once or twice a month on my underarms. After 6 months the hair was completely gone. No more shaving! It also works for the occasional lady whisker.

Can you answer- I am shaving my arms and legs for a long time and I literally noticed that hair growth is really hard. Why is it so? Adding to it- My son hair growth was very less: I can share the photos when he was 5yrs old. At that age I shaved his head may be 6-7 times in that year: and wonder happened- so much dense hair now. I can show results because I have photos of pre and post.
