What a pleasure to learn from this doc. True meaning of the word 'Doctor'.

Incredibly well spoken man. Thanks for the amazing historical recounting of Dr. Kempner's days at Duke, and a very credible support of the rice diet.

from 11/20/2012 to 6/03/2013 i did the Esselstyn/Mcdougall diet and dropped from 173lb to 160lb (6'0 male), my total cholesterol dropped from 215 to 154.
so i will stick with this for the rest of my life, its not that hard really, you get used to it.

"You have got your future in your hands. You can do it. But you have to be very very careful..."

Good interview thanks for posting John. I would have loved to hear more stories of people who stayed on his rice diet long term. I like how Frank talks about peoples beliefs getting in the way of their rationality at the end. And the persuasion cascade of people not willing to make that choice because the vast majority of other people don't, which I believe is very true.

Quote " Three scientists who worked in Warburg’s laboratory, including Sir Hans Krebs, went on to win the Nobel Prize. Here, Kempner enjoyed a superb education in metabolism" AHA Journal (Otto Warburg) No doctor in America had that kind of education at the time.

Dr. McDougall, can you comment on the Blood Type Diet, or if you think certain foods can be more/less beneficial to given blood types?

Thank you.

You heard him right folks. Kempner double washed his rice. That's a rinse AFTER the water starts to boil....twice.

Inspiring to listen to this lecture on simple food choices toward health, but I am sure it might be a very good idea if it was possible to make McDonald change their foods into a new low far, low sodium starch based vegetable meals “ to go”- it might become a new fast food health wave 🌼🍀🌿
