In case you haven’t met me, my name is Natali Edmonds and I am a board certified geropsychologist. That means that I am a clinical psychologist who specializes in working with older adults. One day, while hiking a trail, I came up with the idea for Careblazers and I decided to see if posting videos online could provide help to the many other Careblazers in the world who don’t get to have help come directly to them in their homes. I hope that this work helps you in some way on your caregiving journey.

I hate the disease. My lady I have for an hour is so kind and sweet.I bought the 16 piece puzzles and love them. We can actually put them together in 30 minutes. She’s always surprised of our handy work. The puzzles are pretty in color and birds, puppy’s. Only thing is she just looks at the pieces and feels them. I’m not sure about the bib quite yet. I would have to ask her hubby. I keep looking for things for us to do. We color with a lot of coaching. Eye sight is bad. Love you Doctor and your videos.👍🙏💕

I found that strings or ribbons to tie were the favorite of my father. Like on his drawstring pants. Also, putting tissue or objects in pockets was satisfying for him. He looks for purpose, but couldn't fold washcloths or socks.

Yes I've heard of it. I don't know if she's that bad yet but I'd love to give her something to do. I'm absolutely sick with burn out tonight. She wore me out mentally.

I wish I would have known about this when taking care of my momma.😢 now she’s gone to heaven.

Im glad there are things to help people with dementia, but it has to be one of the worst illnesses. Its hard to have your own parents look at you and think you are some random nurse or someone else and revert to their memories as a child. When my mom was in pain and near the end she would start calling and begging for her mommy to come help her and take her home, even though her mom died years ago and she was at home already. Probably one of the most heartbreaking things to witness and deal with... not to mention that hospitals will refuse to help them at all because they "seem lucid and asked to leave" because they still get paid even if the patient is there for a literal 5 minutes. Honestly hospitals in America have become increasingly useless and pointless while they are charging you more and more for them to do basically nothing

My biking helmet has a new style of snap/ clasp for the chin strap. It has magnets. I don't really understand how it works except that it prevents my fingers from getting pinched

Do you have any activity ideas for activities that we can use with my aunt who has semantic variant FTD. She can't follow TV, or conversations. She identifies numbers and can read but cannot usually understand the context of what she is seeing. She likes to go to coffee with the ladies group and socialize but when she gets there she now can't participate and ends up sleeping more often than not. We have tried coloring books but she has no interest. I have tried fidget poppers and other things more geared to autism but that wasn't stimulating/interesting enough after a few minutes. Her attention span is only a few minutes long, her balance is poor, and her visual perception is not very good anymore causing many things to be "creepy" and scary for her. She used to love going for walks, but only occasionally will want to go for a short walk with us. She used to love games but she hasn't been able to follow play for card games and board games for a while, but maybe we haven't tried the right ones. I would love any suggestions for activities that we can try with her that will draw her interest and give her some thing fun to do again.

My mom has been having spells of being dizzy. Is this common? She stares into space like I'm not there.
