August 12 - 29th they were on their last American tour with a setlist that included Baby's in Black, Rock & Roll Music, Long Tall Sally and I Wanna Be Your Man. That's Beatlemania stuff. Meanwhile Revolver was released on August 5th. They were simultaneously the Fab Four, Mop Tops and The Beatles. One of many many amazing things about this band.

such an evolution from Rubber Soul to Yesterday & Today to Revolver
going where no band had tried to go before just such an amazing influence
then and every generation since ... blessed to have been alive for it all !

The Beatles took the music and made a 100 years evolution in 7 years. We who lived that impossible to describe era in terms of what was the energy and attention that the world put to The Beatles, were mouth opens on each new album. It is not possible for the young people to understand that. Was a global hurricane.

I wouldn't say Giles looks like his father but he certainly has his voice and mannerisms - it very much puts me in mind of George Martins' interviews on the Beatles Anthology

you realize just how wrong rolling stone got it when they revamped their 500 greatest albums (like who cares?). but no question this is the single most seminal, innovative and cohesive album of the last 60 years. not a doubt in my mind.
