The Times Piccolo Left Everyone Impressed After Being Underestimated By His Opponents In Dragon Ball

Piccolo is an often underestimated character, both because he’s not a Saiyan and because he’s been shoved into the background ever since the Androids Saga. However, despite this, people forget just how strong he is. He might not be on the level of god-powered Saiyans, but he can hold his own against some powerful enemies.

Even before he became a background character, Piccolo was underestimated by characters like Vegeta or Frieza, but time and time again, he proved he could overcome the limits others had placed on him. Examples of this include when he killed Raditz with his Special Beam Cannon in the Saiyan Saga, when he trained Gohan after Goku’s death, when he fought Frieza in the Frieza Saga, when he fought Cell in the Cell Saga and when he stalled Buu in the Buu saga. As you can see, it’s not just battles where Piccolo proved he was more than others thought him to be, he also proved he could be a good surrogate father to Gohan and that he could be useful even when he was outmatched.

Suffice to say, Piccolo is much more crucial to the protection of the Earth than people give him credit for. Even when he’s not fighting, he always has a way of overcoming the expectations of those who underestimate him. This video chronicles all those instances for you in one place. What they did to piccolo after the cell saga was a disgrace. The character deserved so much better. He should’ve been on or at least near Goku and vegeta’s level throughout the entire series.

I’d much rather Piccolo get a power boost or transformation in the next arc over Gohan . Considering how much we’ve all been begging for him to be combat relevant again for DECADES it would be unacceptable if they continue the same treatment in the next arc . And no being a tool to help gohan unlock his potential is not justice by any means

I always hoped that Piccolo would be near the top/"2nd in line" with sometimes matching Son and Vegeta (surprisingly) in power.

It seems that's all Son, Vegeta, and Piccolo do during peacetime is train. One would think that Piccolo would always be a surprising wild card.

Every time Piccolo held his own against some strong foes were always my favorite moments of DBZ.

when it comes to the OG main characters, i was a gohan/piccolo favorite, there bond is so amazing, went from being neutral/training to being best friends to even being considered family, piccolo learned to love and care for other people rather then bitter vengence and ended up being a hero in the process
