😀 A BIT ABOUT US:
We’re Marianne & Chris, a happily married couple from the UK. Marianne is a living kidney donor to her best friend, and realising that life was for living and never really knowing what’s round the corner - we decided to fulfil our dream of travelling full time.

So in March 2018 after the kids had left home, we sold our belongings, rented our house and moved into our campervan called Trudy. We set off to see the world and after vanlifing around Ireland and Europe, we grabbed our backpacks and spent 5 months exploring Central America.

Feeling like we needed a challenge, we planned the ultimate van life adventure! In Jan 2020 set off to drive around the World from UK to UK. But after arriving in Turkey, covid caught up with us and closed the borders, so we had a wonderful 18 months exploring this special country. Realising we were not going to be able to head further East, we decided to do a handbrake turn and go the other way and shipped our van to the USA.

We hope you enjoy coming with us, and we’ll continue to share our real adventures and hope you feel inspire to step out of your comfort zone and try something new.

Wow if one didn't believe in guardian angels of one sort or another... You'd be hard put to deny it after that fire incident. You leaving to meet Ben and Chesca when you did, being near the van to spot the smoke, and Ben being an electrical wizard who could make it all safe again.. lots of coincidences there! 🥰

I had to smile. Take a woman away from the shopping malls and she still finds a way to shop. Love all the deliveries at the beach.

So many people talk about Karma in a negative way (e.g. "Karma's a b***h"). However, this incident proved that Karma indeed does deliver what's coming to you - in the most positive way possible. You two put so much good, light and love out into the world, and it was paid back to you in the most spectacular fashion. So glad you are safe and that Trudy lives to explore so much more!

Glad your van is going to be fine as Trudy is the best! A fire is something awful and glad it was so small and you could put it out well. That is a good reason to have and know how to use, a good quality fire extinguisher (and keep it up to date). Safe travels! Safe operation of the fire extinguisher is something all travelers in a van or trailer should know and be able to do. Read the directions ahead and mime doing the procedure for a practice when there is no fire.

What a great quote at the intro. There is only the present!!! My late wife was a Psychologist and I'm a BSc Physicist. We came to the conclusion over many bottles of red wine and our old 70s vinyl collections.... Defo something about the idea that we create a new rolling present from our collective consciousness. Whatever, it's a good excuse for philosophy when drinking fine wine. - I must admit thought, I am completely OCC about fuses everywhere in my wiring!!!

So glad the fire was spotted when it was! (I’m sure you have seen the Travel Bean’s van fire when they were in the USA, they were not so lucky). The location looks so tranquil. What a beautiful spot to meet up with friends ❤

My mum set our Esterel folding caravan on fire. She left a plastic washing up bowl on the gas ring, it was still on low flame but you couldn't tell because of the sun.
Luckily a french fire man was on the campsite holidaying, he levered the window open and emptied an extinguisher in and put it out. It was mostly smoke damage and a melted roller blind and sky light.
We had only just bought the caravan in Calais a few days before.
