5 Easy Steps to Install & Remove Your La-Z-Boy Recliner Back

Over time the back of your La-Z-Boy Recliner may become loose. In this video, we cover 5 easy steps to remove, tighten, and install the back of your La-Z-Boy Recliner.

Removing the Recliner Back

1) Roll the Recliner Forward
2) Locate the Locking Brackets on The Back of The Chair
3) Pull the Locking Levers Up with Slotted Screwdriver
4) Roll the Recliner Back to Normal Position
5) Rock the Back from Side-to-Side in an Upward Motion

Fix This Common Problem While the Back Is Off

The brackets on the back of your La-Z-Boy Recliner can get loose over time. While the back is off, tighten the screws on both brackets to make the back more secure.

You can also tighten the exposed screws on the back bracket of the body.

Installing the Recliner Back

1) Align the Brackets with the Back at a Slight Angle
2) Roll the Recliner Forward
3) Push the Locking Levers Down with Slotted Screwdriver
4) Roll the Recliner Back to Normal Position
5) Test Installation by Gently Twisting from Side-to-Side

We have an old Lazy Boy recliner that does not have a release. Their is a tab that prevents the back from being lifted off. After several frustrating hours, I finally took out two bolts on the front bracket that holds the seat and four screws toward the back of the seat. They were phillips and hard to get at. I got them out with vise-grips. The seat then slides out and the back will tip back far enough to be lifted out. I will replace those screws with bolt head screws when I put it back so I can use a wrench which would be much easier.

Well I watched 45 secounds of the video after spending hours on my own trying to find out what was broke it is poorly put together but nothing was broke and just as soon as I saw you show the locks I reached my hand back and put my hand right on the problem it's all fixed up and good now but the way mine was made looks like more work to come one day but I Thank You so so so much for this video you don't understand how much and for how many reasons but Thank You so much and Awesome beard too.
