It's finally the day when restaurants open their doors and naturally we have to go on a Lisbon food tour! How can we not? We need to support the restaurants with all we got! And that's what we did!

The clock tower, known as "Torre do Galo" (Roster Tower) is the remains of the "Royal Shack" (Real Barraca). A great wooden royal palace built after the 1755 earthquake that destroid the "Palácio da Ribeira", the royal palace that existed on Terreiro do Paço. The king then got afraid of living on a stone palace, in case of another earthquake, so he ordered a new palace to be built of wood, to be resistant to earthquakes. But guess what... it was not resistant to fire! It was full of riches and tapestries, and all the best things. But unfortunately it burned to the ground in a huge fire a few years after being built. So, the new Palácio da Ajuda was ordered. This palace, has never been finished. It's 1/3 built. The "façade" we see nowadays is a lateral, is not the front of the building. The works stopped due to the french invasions, and when the court left to Brazil. Since then the works never resumed.

It is very good to see the neighborhood where I lived until I left my parents' home so well pictured.
What's funny is that the back of my old house is right in front of your beautiful balcony! My mom continues to live there, let's see if you can find her one day during a cold shower on your balcony!

My Favorite Neighborhood in Lisboa, proper...Alcantara, and I live here...From the Rio Tejo to Monsanto Parque...and everywhere in between...But hey we're practically neighbor's...The corridor from Alcantara, Ajuda and Belem I.M.H.O. is a gem!
