Mystery haze appears above Ceres’s bright spots
“The phenomenon, observed by NASA’s Dawn spacecraft, suggests that the bright spots ‘could be providing some atmosphere in this particular region of Ceres’, says Christopher Russell, a planetary scientist at the University of California, Los Angeles.”

NASA's Ceres maps show color-coded features and new official, mythical names
“The geological features on dwarf planet Ceres are now named after agricultural gods and goddesses, while we're still waiting to hear about the sci-fi names chosen for features of Pluto's moon.”

I have a question for Dnews:
How do sunburns form (what's the science behind it), what makes them so painful and finally how can we heal them?

Amy is also doing videos for NASA's New Horizons flyby of Pluto

i am confused by the "summer is winter and winter is summer" comment. doesnt earth's lower and upper hemisphere already have opposite seasons? so what makes the Dwarf Planet's seasons special?

Three mile high mountains are enormous, last time I checked, especially since Everest is 5 miles tall.

Question: Why do our hands and feet get wrinkles when wet?

It should be pointed out that the nomenclature of astronomical bodies is not strictly a science issue. Before science really existed ordinary people named objects stars, planets, comets etc and science has had to use those terms by default, but found that most of these things are misnamed. 'Planet' means 'wandering star' but they are not stars and don't wander, 'asteroid' means 'little star' but they also are not stars. As we redefine what these things are we should rename them. We could call dwarf planets 'planetoids' and Kuiper belt objects 'iceteroids'.

Just a stupid question here : What would happen if Ceres was dragged into Mars stable orbit close enought for tidal heating to work (like Jupiter does with Io). Would it heat Mars/Ceres ? What would happen ? If such thing would be even possible....

is ceres the core of the planet which made the astroid belt!!?

Summer is winter and winter is summer? So, if I'm from Australia - summer is summer and winter is winter right?

When you start talking about the dwarf planet, could you please spell it on the screen, just as you write kilometers when talking about miles etc.?
Now I don't know what to google. I know it's not Sirius, that is a star. Seriss? at 0:18 it sound like Series...

Pluto is a planet, besides, once a planet (for 76 years especially), always a planet. You cant just change that 7 and a half decades in lol
