If you're learning Russian in 2024, I highly recommend you try this technique. It helped me a lot to become fluent in Russian, and it can do the same for you.

The trickiest secret to acquiring a language is a peacefully sleeping cat.
All YouTube polyglots seem to have one.

I have been learning Russian for around two months, and I try to listen to the LingQ mini stories for at least an hour a day. Once I have read all sixty of them at least 3-4 times and listened for around 20x times, I plan to move on to reading transcripts of Russian language youtubers, then listening. My goal right now is not to speak fluent Russian, but rather be able to read and understand Russian.

I started russian about 8 years ago. I picked up a tourists phrase book and did a little on you tube. I got back into it in lockdown and had a tutor for 18 months. Due to work circumstances i cannot now but i do exacly what you said in the video. I read books watch youtube russian tv radio and have duolingo. For anyone reading this im telling you now its a long hard road and consistency is the key. If you dont put in the time you wont learn. Im only intermediate level at a push but its a great feeling when it really starts coming together. Dont give up!

best russian video ever !
1, Waiting for 5, 000 most common words videos from you,
2, grammar videos (I do, I will do, I did, I was doing, I will be doing, I have done, I had done, I am doing, He does, He did, You...., She..., We...., They...., ),
3, sound similar Russian words videos (color, follow, hear, etc), because sound similar words are confusing to new learners.
4, summary on most difficult Russian grammars. Videos explaining how grammar changes the words, eg, something added at beginning of words, something added at end of words, etc
Tenses, how grammar changes on words...
5, Hope future videos can be slower speaking speed in Russian, new learners will not catch subtle differences if too fast.

Great advice. This is how I started learning Russian. 4 years ago, audio podcast lessons in my car every morning. And I luckily found an appropriate A1 level course which had me repeating words in the car. I can definitely tell if nothing else, my pronunciation isn’t as bad as most beginner foreigners!

Hey, I just discovered you on the easy russian channel featuring you. My way of wanting to acquire languages such as russian is to make meaningful connections with it. I place emphasis on proficiency/native c2 fluency so that I: speak the language (proper pronunciation and emphasis on cultural context). and learn how I use russian in advanced situations (e.g, giving directions), talking to natives if i could travel to Europe (not many Russians outside Russia though, and online platforms don't seem too useful), and recognize the vocabulary. Language immersion would be what I think is important to engage in it especially because it is very useful!

I'm just looking at your cat and it's so chill. Mine get all up in my videos and near me when I'm with my tutors running around and knocking things off tables and shelves.

Honestly this channel has been the most useful for me while learning Russian. I started it 2 years ago but I'm having such a hard time sticking to this goal, because Russian is quite frustrating. Definitely harder than I expected, and my mother tongue is Portuguese which makes it easier to learn than if I had English as mother tongue. Still harder than I expected, and I've given up on it last year.

Thank you for this informative video. My Russian level is intermediate. I can easily understand, but when it comes to speak I forget the words that I want to use. I wanted to ask your recommendation on improving speaking skills. Have you ever used any application to practice with native speakers?

Great little tip. I find following people on Instagram is helpful, too. Time can be a barrier but we must be strategic and wise with our precious time

I do it the same way you just explained it. But, there is something you forgot. Life has different periods which are in need to focus on what is actually most necessary. For example when you have children and they need your help with schoolwork or you must drive them to school in the morning, it's maybe not possible to do it exactly like you explained. But as I mentioned the method is good. I do it in a similar way. It's all about grabbing time. Greetings
