Lab coat + thigh highs and a minidress sounds like an amazing outfit unironically

When I was a kiddo I was repeatedly harassed and dress-coded by a specific teacher who HATED disabled kids. She used to specifically tell me that the other kids could wear whatever they wanted, but most clothing wasn't "made for people like me". I got in trouble for wearing a pair of jeans and an oversized shirt multiple times. I also had a teacher at that same school steal my backpack and refuse to give it back until I purchased her Starbucks coffee... I grew up low-income, so I couldn't afford the coffee and just had to sneak into her room during lunch, take my stuff back that she stole, and pray to all hell that she didn't suspend or expell me for it.

In the mid 70s, I was told I couldn't take wood shop class. I was told I would be too distracting for the boys that 'needed' those skills.
I don't think my jeans and sweatshirt were the problem.

One of my older brothers wore booty shorts and a crop top to school to prove the fallacies of the school dress code system. Because they don’t have those rules for the boys. The girls dress code is always way longer and way more specific. It’s always tailored around teenage boys needs (or accommodating, creepy teachers)
Even in elementary school, I wasn’t allowed to wear spaghetti straps as an eight year old because it was “distracting/ inappropriate”. They had to be “two fingers wide” (like that makes a difference)
People like to rationalize “other reason” but it’s just its modesty culture.
The one rule for the boys was no boxers showing and that was left over from the 90s and early 2000s.
Boys would wear tank tops with the full side of the shirt cut out, and not get dressed coded.

It’s not about equalizing, it’s not about professional environments because that’s not what’s going on in high school, even if that’s the idea, it’s not what’s going on. Kids wear the most garbage outfits to school. Pj, slides, sweatshirts and gym shorts was the style in my highschool. That’s not “work” appropriate either. But when girls wear something like crop tops or shorts shorts. 😮That’s when the rules come out. At least in my region with no school uniforms.

I STAND BY THIS: Dress codes were originally made NOT to keep students from gawking at each other, but to keep TEACHERS from gawking at students.
(Which isn’t the way to go about keeping pedos at bay but the school system sucks :p)

A boy in my highschool broke all the girls dress codes and wasn’t dress coded. He did it to prove a point. Did anything change? Nope

They think that a minidress is more distracting than a whole ass lab coat 😭

In the UK we have school uniforms and they are OBSESSED with them. Doesn’t matter if the kids are behaving like a-holes as long as their ties are straight and their skirts aren’t too short apparently 🤷‍♀️

My highschool let students wear costumes on Halloween and sometimes it didn’t even need to be a holiday. Someone I knew came in with a grinch costume a couple times and he came in on Halloween in a skeleboner costume. He took part in classes from a different more dress coded school too. It was always fun to see the difference between skeledong, the grinch, his normal clothes, and him dressed to impress as a culinary course student.

Been some years since high school, but it was junior year when a dress code was introduced. And it was because one classmate showed up wearing boxers and flip flops and another wore a wife beater shirt, flannel pj pants, slippers, and a bathrobe.

I go to art school, and the dress code is pretty lax here. As long as no bits are out (that’s only allowed in paintings or nude sketches) and there’s nothing offensive it’s chill

I imagine that “no covering your face” rule didn’t last long during Covid lol.

I was thinking it in the last episode too, but I love how much you guys think thru everything. Like Viktor seeing the weapon plans. A lot of reacts don't mention or even notice that.

I always wondered why grown adults were obsessed with sexualizing what minors were wearing. Unless it's a safety issue it's a very weird thing to be so strict about. Every time I was coded it was an adult who was uncomfortable, not my peers.

My high school was pretty small because we lived in a country town so we didn't really change students we had in our class each year because of this we also didn't have a high school dress codes so one time on international men's day every girl in my class decided to wear blue and full masc clothes as a kind gesture so on international women's Day every single dude in my class decided to do the same gesture by wearing pink and the good chunk of the guys also war dresses/skirt

I'm a nb but i decided to join in because one of my male Friends told me about what they were planning and ever since then every year in our class we do this become a sort of tradition and each year I participate in both cellarbrations by wearing feminine clothes on international women's Day and masc clothing on international men's day

i’m glad my dress code is actually reasonable. one thing that i find that makes the most sense is that you can have ripped jeans as long as there’s no rips above the knee (exposed thigh and/or underwear)

I love the bag and totally agree on the "dress codes are useless wear what you want." But I NEED to know what happened to the spilled paint, how does that even happen and I cannot imagine how painful it was emotionally. 😭
