Just add some pink sauce and now you have the definition of a food of death.

One correction, "Casu Martzu" is actually its name name in SARDINIAN.
It's an entirely different language and not many people know that Italians and Sards are ethnically and linguistically diverse

I was fully expecting to say "and fucking DEATH"

This is literally food school if there were no rules about the food at all

As an Italian I can confirm that Casu Marzu does NOT mean maggot cheese, and if it does not in italian

I can imagine how it appeared.
In Italian voice: "Aw! Mario! The flies have infested the cheese you left outside! What do we do?!"
"We say it's a new flavor and sell it for higher price!"

"Casu Marzzu is Italian for maggot cheese"
Could not be more wrong

I Love how Sardinians in the comments are more focused on specifying that sardinian is a different language than italian, rather than commenting on this beautiful food 😂

I can't imagine a tourist/any citizen say at a restaurant, "May I have your most ellagant cheese, the Casu Martzu." Hell nah

I ate this in Sardinia a few times, it's still pretty popular over there. The cheese isn't that dangerous when you're eating it in very small portions, which is the common thing to do, because it has a very strong flavor and covers pretty much every other taste in a dish.
