From a painter with decades of experience blue tape is the absolutely wrong tape to be using! Try the 3M 2040 tape. The higher the numbers the less tack it has.

You hit on a key point that almost every other video leaves out .... using a light coat of shellac on the edges where the dye meets the body in order to prevent runs in that later finishing stages. A great tip!

Hi there at Cranmer guitars. Beautiful red stain you used for that particular guitar. May I ask which red from which brand you used for it? Thank you very much and best regards, Michael

Do I hear a deviated septum? A good pal of mine had his fixed, 1 day hospital stay, now he sounds like James Earl Jones.

Would wipe on poly work the same way as shellac to protect the edges from runs?

Beautiful finish. Just wondering, did you rub true oil on the flame top of the guitar after you'd done the other finishes? Also, why rub down the guitar with 1200 grit and not say 2000 grit? Looks amazing as is but as im new to this and deciding what finish to use and how to do it any help would be fantastic.... thanks.

I'm not sure I understood : shellac then tru-oil ? Then sanding, and last but not least scratch remover??

Beautiful color! Do you always need to use a filler? I know you said you weren't crazy about the one you were using so what type is recommended? What brand of stain did you use? Only one coat? Also did you use any different colors around the edges or just a thicker coating of the same stain. Thank you

Is it necessary to put shellac on the top before using Tru oil? Or can you you just use Tru oil over the stain?

Do you have to fill the grain? I’m gonna build another guitar soon, and I’d like to have open grain because I like the feel of it instead of a hard lacquer. Does it depend on the wood type?
