though you somewhat eluded to your canning, you prepare and can with so much love! And your canned goods taste so much better! Cost? Heck that can't be beat! Yes, you inspire me!

I can what goes on sale. Whether it be meat, veg, or potatoes. I set time aside each weekend to can a mess of something. I have a busy life, so these ready made meals are a life saver. We never ever eat out, so I have saved money for sure. Yes it takes time to can food, but it also takes time to cook a meal. When hubby is sick he gets home made soup, now when I'm sick, I get home made soup too. It's a win win! I have found that people that eat out often are the biggest critics of cooking, but part of cooking is knowing how to shop too.

Brand new to canning for the upcoming winter season in my new home, and this was a great overview. It made me a lot more confident in the cost savings for my personal budget. Thank you for your perspective and for packing SO much info into the potential ideas for what is possible for my pantry!

Sometimes it saves me money, sometimes not. I love to can and know that in the middle of our Wisconsin winters if the weather is terrible we can have a good home cooked meal with very little effort. From canning sauces and soups to mustards to chicken and beef, knowing that what I have on our shelves will sustain us. We also dehydrate food, freeze dry food, freeze and stockpile household items. There's nothing like having your food and knowing it's there when you need it. Homemade wine, beer and cheese is also the absolute best.

I was raised cooking huge meals, and my family doesn't eat leftovers well. I'm a newbie canner and have found that canning helps me waste less food, plus I'm able to store it on a shelf instead of using energy from the freezer to keep it fresh (and forgetting about it! lol). This is a great video in favor of canning. So glad I started and am able to watch people like you with experience and expertise!

I like the fact I know what is in the food!(or what's not in it!) No chemicals, no additives, less salt, etc. I'm starting to learn how to can meat. I like looking at all the jars when I'm done and I'm proud of it!

I love canning! I’m a newbie, I have only been canning for about a year. I have only canned jams, jellies and salsa and I can tell you that I know I have saved money! I have four kids that go through jelly like crazy. Thank you and I am looking forward to watching all your videos. ❤️

A few years ago, I bought a Presto canner and really did not like the cheap manufacturing. I found one of those golden harvest canners on eBay for really cheap and in great condition, its my favorite of the three I own (also have a cooker that holds 4-pints). I'm learning how to preserve garden produce and recently discovered washing the jars and removing the bands otherwise they rust. After following Dave Ransey for a few months, home canning and freezer dump meals has impacted our grocery bill. Just wish I could get the lids at a decent price.

Enjoyed your video and agree with it. When one is canning in bulk how can it not save money? I'm new to water bath and pressure canning and will watch canning videos. First time pressure canning our harvested chicken legs and thighs this past spring and will never put them in the freezer again. I've made soup twice and the taste of broth and chicken is unbelievable!

Very inspiring canning video! Would love to learn, research, and save up for a pressure canner!

I would like to learn to can roasted peppers. I preserve my roasted peppers with oil pack in the fridge in previous years. I have not done so this year because pepper prices are through the roof expensive.

Keep up the wonderful work on your videos! You are truly inspirational, Linda!

When canning is done for the purpose of adoration it's a hobby. When it's done for survival, it's a way of life. I say this as someone who has gone hungry so my daughter didn't.

I've seen a lot of these videos over the past two weeks.  Why is this even a concern?  If you grow your own foods, you need to have a way to put up the foods.  Canning for me is the only way to go.  I have learned to make everything!  My family now only wants my canned foods, nothing from the store.  Thanks, Linda!  You are awesome!

...many of us use Tattler lids...again, basically a one time purchase. The canning community rocks! Go girls!

10 years ago we bought a brand new Presto pressure canner for 110$CAD. First time using it we made 21 quarts of a very meaty (ground beef) spaghetti sauce chock-full of vegetables (celery, carrots, peppers, mushrooms, onions, and of course tomatoes galore), spiced and flavoured to our liking (parsley, basil, oregano...). This kind of spaghetti sauce doesn't exist on grocery shelves. We sat down at the kitchen table, with all 21 quarts still boiling and popping. We calculated the cost per jar. Compared it to grocery store's high-end/pricier spaghetti sauces in glass jars. That very first run, the Presto canner was half paid for. One run of 21 quarts of Chili Con Carne later and the Presto paid itself entirely. That, and no industrial canned meal can even be compared to home-canned meals, taste-wise and nutrition-wise. To us, even the priciest of all spaghetti sauces tastes terrible compared to home-canned.

You have been my go to gal on canning for many years. When I want to try to can meat I went to you. Now my husband says I'll can anything. Love it and I will always be a canner. Thanks Linda
