Announcing Bitwig Studio 4

Welcome to Bitwig Studio v4, bringing new musical timelines to new horizons.
This means comping for audio clips, both in the Clip Launcher and the Arranger. A new set of Operators, for changing the chance, recurrence, and more of any note or audio event. Random Spread for any expression point (like per-note pitch, or audio panning) with perfect control. And Native Apple Silicon support on Mac, even allowing Intel and ARM plug-ins to work side-by-side.

This will be another KILLER update! Bitwig is such an amazing DAW, one of very few pieces of music-hard/software with which I am nearly 100% satisfied. And it is getting better and better... I do soo not regret switching from Cubase!

They are already far ahead of the competition. All they need to do now is to add VIDEO SUPPORT.

The biggest thing that Bitwig offers me that nobody else has is a next gen multi-process audio engine system that makes effective use of a modern 8 or 12 core or 24 core machine. Cubase has a lot of things that I miss when I use bitwig, such as midi comping (not just audio comping), and better midi experience overall (better time and pitch quantization features, better harmonization, and overall a better workflow for songwriting) but where Bitwig shines is as a "better ableton live than ableton live".

I think the semi-modular environment of bitwig is insanely great.

I also think the scripting system for writing controller integrations in javascript atop the host process's java apis is next level great also. Needs better documentation but unlike the Ableton or Cubase equivalents I was able to start scripting within minutes of trying this out.

More javascript scriptability please. Let me write track automation script blocks in javascript, please.

I sort of figured audio comping would be in 4.0. This makes Bitwig a more full featured DAW, rather than a complimentary tool for another DAW that has audio comping. The operators are perfect for me - I'm always looking for ways to create happy accidents and controllable musical chaos (!) and this puts my hands on some interesting levers. The thing I like most about the Bitwig approach is how everything makes sense to me - I'm always going "oh yeah that's exactly how expect this to work."
