As a people pleaser, I couldn't help but to sometimes see myself in the ways that he dealt with things. We have so much trouble setting boundaries and some people can definitely sense it.

The actress was so amazing. One minute you’re terrified of her and the next you feel moved to tears out of pity. She deserves all the awards

Just binged it. That was a dark psychological story. I feel shaken. It truely depicts attachment to the abuser and trauma. Hard to watch but must watch. Hats off Netflix for this!

Clicked on this last night, not knowing anything about it. Ended up watching the entire show in one sitting. I was captivated. It's brutal, unsettling and disturbing and probably one of the best shows Netflix has produced in a long time.

I know what he means when he was saying “ that’s what abuse does to you, it makes you this sticking plaster for all of life’s weirdos, it makes you an open wound”….its totally true…when you’ve been abused you really can’t see good for bad. You actually have empathy deep down that you end up being kind to those who aren’t kind but who look weak and vulnerable on the outside and they instantly latch onto you.

Amazing show and the fact the actor is acting his own true recount of his stalking story is incredible.
It must’ve been hard.

This was so honest and brave. He could've glossed over times he actually sought out his abusers, but by explaining his mindset I began to understand how lack of self-esteem and compassion for a mentally vulnerable woman led to the decisions he took. My younger sister was in a similar situation with a man she met at a social anxiety group, and I used to get annoyed with her for not reporting him. I feel like this show has helped me to understand her mindset better - he was at risk of suicide and the criminal justice system doesn't always have the resources to properly support people, even if they take your testimony seriously. It also shows how difficult it is to report if you're not the 'perfect' victim (avoiding contact with the abuser/stalker), and it's those who seek out their abusers who have probably had past trauma and may be even more vulnerable.

I saw this when it was a one-man show at the Edinburgh Festival. It was incredible. Richard Gadd is a rare, brave
talent.

Episode 4, the scene where he realised that the abuser was trying to control his mind was the exact moment I too figured it out and it was terrifying I swear I never felt such thing in a long time. What a great show! Thank you Richard for sharing your story to help thousands of people out there. You’re brave and I wish you now all the fame and success you truly deserved!

Take a Bow, Jessica Gunning ! She's natural at acting. I was terrified of what Martha would do next. It brought back some unsettling memories and uncomfortable feelings. She breathed life in that character. Wish to see more of her works !

This trailer promised a horror/thriller dramedy about stalking, and instead we got a deeply contemplative, brutal, and compelling piece about the ramifications of sexual trauma and abuse… absolutely superb, 11/10

I just binge watched Baby Reindeer and the series is going to help me process my personal traumas better. I can feel it. I have never felt so understood or been able to make this much sense of myself by watching something. And knowing that there are so many people that will gain as much as I did, and feel like they can relate like I can, makes me feel less alone. I am very grateful.

Just watched this and ... I cannot believe some of the incredibly complicated feelings he goes through as he is being stalked. The brushing off by the police, denying him the dignity a human being deserves. The friends who worsened the situation when he so badly needed to feel that he didn't deserve what was happening to him. It's just ... he so badly needed someone to empathize with and believe him, but the people he was close to turned away from him because it was easier than facing the danger of his stalker. To fully comprehend so many complex intricacies and then to be so effective in depicting those different thought processes he was going through is so immense and raw. I felt like he put words to things I'd only felt in the past but could not fully give words to. Very cathartic. Worth the watch/cry. 10/10

An example of when you write what you want to write and what you know, stop giving f**ks about genre and 'thematic thesis statements' or any other 'save the cat nonsense' and just tell a story the way it happened to you and talk about what the experience made you feel. A near-flawless mini series.
