Don't sleep on the Stego. Ever since the TLC, it's a great early game gatherer. Easy to tame, even in foot with a regular bow; has 3 gathering modes for wood, berries and thatch; and is a tank vs most early game threats short of maybe Theris. Overall not the best and the beaver and mammoth are more efficient but I think the availability and ease of taming make it worth it imo.

Mammoth has 75% weight reduction on wood instead of 50% that beavers have, and a higher weight capacity. I prefer the mammoth for that reason. The chainsaw is annoying because you get overweight so fast, maybe I should try it while riding a ravager..

My favorite harvesting dinosaur is the tek Stryder with both harvesting attachments, it has over 3k weight, it has the weight reduction, (with the chest attachment) and it has very good effectiveness

I think the magmasaur is better gathering metal than an anky even with an argie, I know that the magmasaur is really hard to get, I got mine on lost island, but it has so many weight capacity that it really overpowers the anky imo, you can even smelt on it but I am in the industrial era now so for me it would be slow.

Ankys are much less painfully slow in the water. Don't overlook that if you have decent coastal metal spots.

For wood, fiber and berries my first choice is the tickle chicken. If you focus on melee it's really great. It just breezes through a forest. And best of all it's one tame for three different resources.
As for thatch the wyvern wins hands down. It's just so OP.
