MicroCT for Dental Applications - The Root Canal Anatomy Project Part 1 (Preclinical Imaging)

Researcher in dentistry Dr. Marco Versiani, University of Sao Paulo @CanalUSP, discusses the applications of micro-CT imaging for 3D root canal studies. Although technological advances in the 20th century have led to a range of techniques for visualizing the human tooth, most require the destruction of the samples studied and they also only allow 2D imaging of a 3D structure. Over the last decade, non-invasive, non-destructive, high-resolution micro CT technology has become the most important and accurate research tool for the 3D study of root canal anatomy and its influence on treatment/retreatment procedures.
