How to Solve Exponential Equations without Calculator IB Math SL

CORRECTION: Thanks to Subscriber Kyle D'Souza. By mistake, I wrote 2x - 5 it should have been 2x + 5. Accordingly the correct solution will be -5/2. for the first equation.
Solve exponential equations by making the same base.

For the second problem on the part where there is 27*3^2x+3^2x=28, shouldn't it be: 3^4x*27=28? I am very confused
