You failed to mention the Pretty Boy era of Floyd's career. The vast majority of the 26 KOs he accumulated happened during that era. Not even the filthiest of casuals can say Mayweather vs Augustus or Mayweather vs Gatti were boring fights. The only reason he fought "boring" in the Money Mayweather era was because he had already broken his hands several times, and he couldn't physically punch like before. Great video all around.

I agree for the most part. But i wouldn't say Floyd is the most influential boxer EVER, perhaps the most influential modern boxer. I can't imagine the amount of people that started to box or just to watch the sport after watching Ali or Tyson. These guys made boxing a mainstream sport and stablished what most people's expectations are for a boxing match: hard bouts with heavy punches and iconic knockouts.

Boxing really is a horrendous and dangerous sport, and I've always believed the fighters should get paid as much as possible for stepping into the Floyd mastered this. But, it does come w/ some collateral damage in getting in the way of the fights fan want to see.... Don't hate the player, hate the game

Love your content brother. Support from Yuma, Arizona!

Boxers wanting to protect their undefeated records might be a more recent thing but everything else you mentioned at the beginning I can't blame Mayweather for. Super fights have and were postponed before and have even fallen through multiple times in the past. Also the decline of Boxing around the 2000s I would put the blame more on the bad state of the heavyweight division in general and the Klitchko brothers dominating.

I honestly think the “YouTube boxing community” it’s good for boxing because it’s bringing young fans back to the sport and the “old man sport” stigma not really a thing but as a person who box myself. I do enjoy and appreciate the videos you’re making and I also like your opinion in things. Keep doing the good work, I been sharing your videos with my guys at the boxing gym.

Credit to the heavy boxers (especially Anthony Joshua, because he started this) for the best fighting the best. Heavy weight boxing is popping off again because the best are always fighting. AJ might have lost his belts but he keeps improving, I want to see him fight Fury and Usyk again.

y'know I used to think Youtube boxing was a joke, but now I respect it as the one thing keeping the sport alive outside of Fury and Wilder.
Atleast those guys fight each other instead of only choosing fighters far bellow their level to keep up records.

I don’t think Floyd ruined boxing but he definitely showed a lot of young and up and coming fighters to make money and take fights where you have a good chance to win. After these guys fights the fans are not going to be the ones visiting them when they are eating out of a tube at 50. That’s just my take

Why the fuck is your channel so good, literally every aspect of your videos is incredible, major respect bro

He def ruined the sport. The obessesion with being undefeated and making as much money as possible are his worst influences. We're not getting any of the money that boxers make, so this shouldnt matter to us. I just want to see the best fight the best.

Everyone blames Mayweather but never talks about Top Rank and how Bob Arum been corrupting the sport since the 70’s

I am a MMA fan first and foremost and when i started getting more into boxing in these last 3 years i got frustrated very quickly that allot of the top guys just aren't willing to fight each other

Found your channel the other day and I’ve watched your videos on boxing and Im so glad someone is commenting on the poor state of boxing. Im a boxing casual (I’m a UFC fan) so don’t know the whole picture but you’re explaining it very well and I’ve learned that boxing is deep in quicksand with promoters, broadcasters, belts etc, keep it up 👍

I remember the Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight. "The fight of the century". My family and some friends who weren't into boxing tuned the event because it was promoted as something great.

It got a lot of exposure even to the mainstream public.

Sadly, none of the people I knew where satisfied with the fight, they were like "that's boxing?" "He's just running" and labeled it as a boring sport which broke my heart.

I have a lot of respect for Floyd and everything he has accomplished but he has done more harm than good to the sport.

Well I remember when tank and floyd had a beef because floyd told him he was not taking any hard fights. Floyd earned his position.

I don't think Floyd himself ruined the sport but the way people/fighters misunderstood what being undefeated means did imo, not taking risks, imitated or coping how floyd thought, etc.
I do think that the boxer being the promoter can work if done right, sometimes the promotion itself does jack all with them and were left wondering "man if only".
As for YT Boxing, it's just armatur boxing but with people that have a big following in some way, that's how I see it, some of those guys in that scene have been boxing way before this sub genre accorded.

floyd didn't necessarily ruin the sport because floyd was just being himself. floyd actually fought the best fighters even tho haters try to discredit him like he didn't. what killed boxing is the fact that guys want a money Mayweather without going through pretty boy phase. floud fought the best. these guys wanna get paid and become big names without doing that

All the things you listed (Except for the YouTube boxing) where problems before Floyd Mayweather. Although he didn't help the situation the majority of the blame has too go too the boxing organisations (WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO) they have been slowly killing the sport since at least the 90s with their greed.
