In Muslim majority countries, Hijab always came as optional but ended up as mandatory. People should uphold their local clothings and culture more, regardless of religions.

Drastic situations call for drastic measures. Burkas and Hijabs are NOT traditional garments in many countries and these garments have been associated with extreme Islamic values and have been used as a sign of conquest. Respecting any country's customs, traditions and identity is an important part of retaining that country’s culture, rather than being overwhelmed by a singular religious ideology and losing the country’s identity altogether. Good luck, Tajikistan with the brave move to save your country's identity.

Persia, Tajik and Hindu culture before Islam ruined it was awesome. Heard that Persians are also going back to their roots in Iran. Wish that uprising comes up too.

Traditional Tajik clothing is delightfully colorful! They should embrace it and help businesses that produce such garments thrive . Take back your heritage.

This muslim country really amazes me. The ban on hijaab is partly due to the extreme impose of it in Iran. Salute. Every country has their own culture and traditional clothing. This should be their identity instead of adopting other's culture.

I hope Turkey bans burkas and Hijabs to and bring back Turkey to its original state that Ataturk setup. For the ones that want to wear hijab then go live in Saudi Arabia. We Anatolians have our own culture and traditions. Long live secularism. My ancient ancestors from 4000BC Hittites Anatolian DNA didn’t even know what Islam was as there was no Islam then.

As a Muslim nation, this hijab banning in Tajikistan is very mind blowing for me. I hope this country also recognises women right as equal as men.

Islam origin was Saudi Arabia. Tajik is not its land. So, Islam attacked Tajik's land and culture back then.
Now Tajik is taking revengeance and getting their land and culture back.
All Tajik must support this action, except for cowards and traitors.

Tajikistan is proudly Muslim but it doesn’t need Arabization.

This reminds me of Turkey under Ataturk, Iran under Palevi, and 70s!Indonesia

The tajik clothing looks way better than the hijab

Though I am not a fan of the state telling people what to wear, I fully agree with the direction they are going - appreciating and embracing your own culture is absolutely the right thing to do. As a European Christian, I wish we appreciated our cultural traditions in the same way.

Tajikistan proved that culture is far more important than religion

Even Saudi Arabia is on the verge of going modern.

it seems like they are distancing themselves from iranian way of being an islamic country. they are avoiding to be tagged as extrimist. good move tajikistan. and besides tajikistan clothing are modest and it preserves the culture.

I would guess that hijab is a "tradition" of Middle Eastern islamic countries not Tajikistan. It could be seen as a sort of cultural colonisation.

Tajikistan could ban hijab and burka despite being islamic country. India can't ban hijab despite being Dharmic country?🤮🤮

I've never heard of Tajikistan but I'm impressed that they went this route. It's entirely their choice whether or not to uphold Islamic Traditions or to make changes in their own sovereign nation regardless of what other countries may feel about what they've done.

I say this as a Freedom-loving American. I hope the best for the people of Tajikistan.🙏

That's a right choice to make, ban all this Gulf Arab clothing, and embrace your own traditional clothing and style
