Why Paper Straws?

Adults should never make major decisions or policy based upon the advice of a child. Case in point...

I fully support this kid and others like him doing good work like this, that's awesome. The problem is it was too specific and adults should know better. If they calculated straws total discarded plastic mass compared to the total discarded plastic mass of other plastic products, like packaging for instance, they would find bigger problems, I'm sure.

Life hack: lift your drink up about four inches and drink from it like a normal person

I stopped eating fast food years ago, so I consume zero straws per year……I’ll bring the average down a little 🤣

500 straws annually. For me? I don't think so. I might use maybe 20 a year.

I was a sales engineer. I'd take information and paramiters from engineers and put together a bid for a piece of equipment that meets those specifications and applications. More frequently than not (this learned it on the job guy ... me) I'd see something that just didn't look right. Usually in the math (I dropped out of math in the 10th grade) I'd call these college educated engineers to point out my concerns. In every circumstance they'd look at thier numbers and say "aw crap ... I'll call you back) so ... That being said ... Those numbers just don't look right. PS I hate using any straws.

This might be strange, but ive used the same aluminum straw for over ten years and before you ask yes i wash it after each use.

It's funny. As a kid, fast food places used paper boxes. The Big Mac for example. Then sometime later, it was styrofoam. And it stayed that way for a long time. And now we're back to paper.

I remember when they got rid of glass jars, (mostly), changed to plastic. When they got rid of paper bags, straws etc. I was in my teens and new this wasn’t a great idea. Well look now what plastic is doing to our environment. SMFH 🤷🏻‍♂️

Actually I recently read an article that paper straws can be detrimental to your health. Just leave us alone and let us make up our own minds.
