Fun Fact: Although Roald Dahl hated the (1990) movie, he loved Anjelica Huston as the Grand High Witch

Anjelica Huston was just so striking, as the Grand High Witch, even before the transformation scene. She was beautiful but has just a sinister energy about her in every scene. I can’t imagine anyone playing the role better than her.

Actually, Roald Dahl really loved the original movie adaptation, and he even teared up when he saw the alternative ending that matched his book. But when he saw that they decided to release the happy ending where the children are transformed back into humans, that's when he asked that his name be removed from any promotional content.

Seeing clips from the original still creeps me out decades later and I still struggle to watch it. The girl in the painting makes me so uncomfortable whenever I think about it.
