As someone who maintains a om603 as a daily, the more you drive the happier it is. 270k miles w140 goin strong!

"Stands up and starts slow clap". Sir, after this video I feel like reading a book. I am a youtube veteran and also an old Mercedes enthusiast (owning and making videos about them occasionally as well), but this was pure gold among the senseless toxic content that has plagued the site over the years. Thank you and I hope you find peace and harmony in your diesel drenched journey, which I will definitely follow.

What an absolute beauty. So glad to see this getting love and hearing it will be a daily driver. I bought a 94 E320 Wagon in June 2020 from Copart, started daily driving it in 2021 and haven't looked back. Great video, thanks for sharing!

Great video, I absolutely love the mec wagons of any generation. Even all these years later it still has a real elegant charm, very classy.

I suspect the mileage is low because no-one can stand being in a red interior for long! Seriously, it's a fine choice and that car will run forever with regular maintenance. I have an R129 which has similar underpinnings and if you aren't afraid of having a go after watching numerous YT content you can buy the parts cheaply and upgrade it yourself, those suspension and steering bushes are relatively easy to do. As a bonus I don't think you'll find a comfier place to sit and if you can stop being American for a short while just resist buying one of those half gallon drinks.

I feel the same way about my 92 BMW 525i, it's got just enough modern creature comforts and reliability to be a good daily driver, but still has that oldschool charm and build quality. Mine has 304k miles, and it just keeps on going— it's actually my only car, haha.

I’m currently doing a looong rolling restoration on my daily rescued 1987 300D Turbo sedan ❤

Someone imported it from Canada to Portugal some time ago and it ended up being stopped for a bit of a long time before I rescued it.

Being from Canada it inevitably does have some rust but it does also have a swapped 5-Speed manual gearbox and a #22 head!

It’s currently having some mechanical fixes, including new injector nozzles from Monark and I intend to sometime in the future also repair the rust and give it a fresher look ❤😊

I have the same car in my garage that belonged to my grandfather that died in 2014. Since then, it has been sitting there, waiting for me to fix it. Luckily for me, i decided to became a car mechanic so hopefully, soon i will get this legend running once again. Such a magnificent car!

You sir, are my friend that I never had! Greetings from eastern Europe. You speak from my heart. Exactly the situation I find myself in, just with an another brand at the moment! Very insightful and philosophical views about the times we are going through. I also refuse to drive a modern econobox. I also like old wagons. Keep her running and we know what we know.

From Japan. I currently drive a Porsche 996 GT3 and an old Land Rover Discovery 1, but I must say my old 320E (W124 sedan) was one of the most balanced, comfortable cars I'd ever driven. If Tokyo allowed diesel cars, I'd would love to have bought a 6 cylinder diesel wagon.

I am sooo jealous - the colour, the interior. The US spec lights.
Oh what a lovely car sir. Thank you so much for sharing!

What a gorgeous car. An absolute legend of an icon in the automotive world, I would say.

I had a 87 300DTurbo sedan, purchased new, claret red exterior colour (looked like burgundy, not bright red) with matching interior upholstery (again, looked burgundy) like your interior. Kept it 10 yrs. Best car I've owned. Wish I still had it. But, I must admit, the frustration in finding parts for it today would be a problem for me. I'm not sure the MB dealer 3 kms away would be interested in working on it; I'd likely have better luck with the Indy Porsche mechanic who also handles VW & Audi diesels, and specializes in vintage Porsche. He maintains my not so vintage 09 Boxster for things I can't handle. Best of luck with your 300TD. Subscribed

As a diesel wagon owner and enthusiast (VW JSW TDI), this is my attainable dream car for my next car. What’s it like driving as a daily though? What if it’s the only car you own? How many miles can you go on a full tank of diesel? Where do you take it for servicing?

My dad drove these S124 300TDT's for years.. He bought his last one late 1991. It was a Sportline. Never forget how the inline 6 run when he came home after work

If the condition is decent, you just can't go wrong with an s124. I had a 200 TE which i tackled the Alps and Norway with. Had it for four years, didn't put much money into and sold it with a solid profit. Now i own a 300 TE, which the previous owner imported from Texas and i won't be selling it anytime soon. Love those cars! I hope it serves you well!

i have 2x '87 603 turbos, one being a s124 and the other a w124. After those 2, I recently bought a w210 om606 turbo - you'll love these cars, they're awesome.
